CaP'N GRuNGe
From Profootballtalk... HALEY TO THE CHIEFS Posted by Mike Florio on February 5, 2009, 11:02 p.m. Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that the Kansas City Chiefs have offered the team’s head-coaching position to Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Per Glazer, the two sides are now in the process of working out a contract. “He’s going to be a big loss for us,” an unnamed Cardinals player told FOXSports.com. Haley arrived as offensive coordinator in 2007, after Ken Whisenhunt was hired to be the team’s head coach. Haley and Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli worked together with the Jets in the late 1990s. Haley also has coached with the Bears and the Cowboys. If Haley ends up taking the job, it’ll be interesting to see whether the Chiefs make a play for Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in three weeks. Hat Trick
I'm not overly excited about the hire, however I did want a young head coach with some fire on the sidelines and an offensive mind. I am happy the organization has made all these changes with the coaches and GM and are going in a new direction. There is only one way to go from here...back to the top of the AFC West and hopefully a Super Bowl in the coming future.

muck
I am guardedly optimistic. Lets see what they do in the draft and FA. If Warner and Boldin end up here, along with Julius Peppers, we're going to win the SB. If they don't, we will still win more than two games. Early prediction: At least five wins, no more than ten...depending on the draft and FA.

fingfootball
I am guardedly optimistic. How can you not be optimistic? We have a clean slate. Our team owner has finally come out from under his rock and seems to be dedicated to having a competitive team. King Carl is gone after 2 decades of terror. The mistake that was Herm is gone. We have a GM who has SB rings and a HC that just got back from the SB. We are way under salary cap and hopfully these guys are not afraid to utilize the FA market. I'm not saying that everything is going to be roses, but damn this is an exciting time for the Chiefs. Hell, I'm probably most excited about the fact that CP wont be involved in our draft for the first time since I was 18 or 19 years old. Exciting times fellas. muck
Not all that thrilled with the hire. But anything beats Herm. This was my original position. The more I hear from "football people" and ARI players that losing Haley will be a blow to ARI and a great thing for KC, my sentiment is improving. I think there is a decent change we go 8-8 in 2009...as long as we address the offensive and defensive lines in the draft...

forever in debt to mo lewis
Bump up Dwayne Bowe. ill second that....although to most savvy fantasy football players, and people who know football, this guy is already quite a beast.....no running game and an inexperienced quarterback...and this guy was still making plays....some incredible ones....this guy made some amazing plays last year that left my jaw dropping.....wasnt that high on him going into last year strictly based on fantasy production....hes a guy ill be targeting now

Well, he has received the blessings of Parcells by being considered for that Miami job last year, so I am at least somewhat impressed by that. I am anxious to see what these guys do this off-season. Then use #3 on the OL.

Then use #3 on the OL. i love andre smith...still do...i keep hearing these maturity "issues"....the guy was in contact with an agent...around bowl time....i dont see the major crime...heres a guy whos a top 3 pick...hes in contact with an agent....big deal....im sure it happens more often than not....saban was just covering his own ass to avoid any scrutiny....before that..the only thing we heard about him was weight concerns...i watched him on espn during the awards...seemed like a very happy and polite kid i dont see anyway warner wants to go that route though...lol

There is only one way to go from here...back to the top of the AFC West and hopefully a Super Bowl in the coming future. If I were a Chief honk I'd agree with this line of thinking. Those that are automatically bumping Bowe up are making a mistake, IMO. While Mark Bradley on the other end is a nice complementary WR that had a decent breakout, he's not Anquan Boldin. And Tyler Thigpen is not Kurt Warner. Now.... I am guardedly optimistic. Lets see what they do in the draft and FA. Iif Warner and Boldin end up here, along with Julius Peppers, we're going to win the SB. If they don't, we will still win more than two games. Early prediction: At least five wins, no more than ten...depending on the draft and FA. ... if Warner (highly unlikely, he does not want to uproot his family) and Boldin (possible, who knows?) came to KC, then it'd be a different story. Getting Peppers would be a solid upgrade for sure. I said it in other threads and I'll say it again. I like Haley but I think his stock rose to the level it's at purely based on the talent at QB and WR that he had to work with. We'll see what the guy's really got as he continues to develop Thigpen at QB. I am a hugh Bowe guy (have him in a dynasty) and am hoping that his stock rises, I'm just proceeding with caution. Maybe a good time to trade him in such leagues. Edited February 6, 2009 by darin3
