CaP'N GRuNGe
Rosenfels “beyond excited” about trade February 27th, 2009 – 10:04 AM by Judd Zulgad Sage Rosenfels’ agent, Rick Smith, said his client is “beyond excited” when asked about the quarterback’s reaction to being traded to the Vikings. “We’ve been working on this [deal] for a couple of years,” Smith said. “He’s being brought up there to compete. He’s not being handed the starting spot. He feels pretty good about the situation because he’s coming out of a West Coast offense [in Houston] and he’s a West Coast quarterback. Playing with this team, with Adrian Peterson behind him, with the defense the way it is, playing in a dome, it’s like a home run for him. He’s a Midwest kid and he’s going back to the Midwest.” Smith clarified Rosenfels’ contract situation, explaining that the final year of his Houston contract was torn up. Thus, the reality is that Rosenfels has agreed to a three-year, $9 million deal with the Vikings. Smith and Rosenfels both know there are many who will question this move but Smith said to just give it time. “The bottom line is if fans give him time and sit back and watch what he can do, I think they will come to appreciate him,” Smith said. “He’s very intelligent, a great community guy, a good speaker, a good leader and can run the West Coast offense very well.”

Flypaste
This is the end of Runyan, I think. Maybe big bro can help Shawn with those emotional issues, a little family support... Eagles, free agent Andrews reach dealBy Len Pasquarelli The Philadelphia Eagles, who could lose both of their long-time starting offensive tackles in free agency, prepared for that likelihood on Friday, reaching a contract agreement with former Cincinnati Bengals right tackle Stacy Andrews. Financial details of what will be a multi-year deal were not immediately available. Andrews is tentatively scheduled to fly to Philadelphia on Friday to undergo a physical. He is the older brother of current Eagles right guard Shawn Andrews and is expected to line up next to him in 2009. Shawn Andrews is a five-year veteran and a two-time Pro Bowl player. It is expected that Stacy Andrews will replace longtime starter Jon Runyan on the right side of Philadelphia's blocking unit. Runyan is an unrestricted free agent who almost certainly won't re-sign with the Eagles. The team is also prepared to lose left tackle Tra Thomas in free agency. Regarded as a power-type rightside blocker, Andrews should be an excellent replacement and makes the Eagles younger at the position. Andrews, 29, was Cincinnati's franchise player in 2008, but the team opted not to tag him this spring. He is coming off offseason surgery to repair his right knee after tearing the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in the 15th game of last season, but is expected to be ready for the start of the 2009 campaign. A four-year veteran, and the Bengals' fourth-round pick in the 2004 draft, Andrews has played in 62 games and started 32 of them. The former University of Mississippi standout started 29 games over the past two seasons.

westvirginia
good riddance. Why? I thought he produced well when he could stay on the field. He wouldn't have been my first choice for an ATL receiving TE, but he could really help Ryan out a bunch.

Help him into a hospital bed because he can't block, or help him with his 3rd-n-long opportunties because LJ will drop a lot of short-yardage passes? LJ was a bust here in Philly....a TE that had some decent stats by default because of the offense he played in. If you just watched the Philly highlights, they often showed him making some grabs. If you watched the rest of the game, you'd often see a guy who missed blocks, lined-up incorrectly, or dropped passes all over the field...whenever he could stay on it. +1 on the good riddance. We don't have a TE right now, and that is better than having Smith.

Randall
Connor Barwin looks like a Vrabel clone. The Broncos have reportedly signed long snapper Lonie Paxton. The pipeline out of New England is running to both Kansas City and Denver. The 30-year-old former Patriot is known as one of the best long snappers in the league. tonyr0802
Bart Scott deal is apparently not a done deal: Bart Scott reportedly is going to give the Ravens a chance to match the Jets' five-year, $40 million contract offer. In an effort to break the story, many national sources said the deal was officially agreed to. But it was never signed and it now appears Scott is having second thoughts and wants to give Baltimore another shot. We don't see why Baltimore wouldn't match now, but it's no lock. We'll find out shortly
tonyr0802
Keeps getting better: The Baltimore Sun passes along speculation that the Ravens are now offering Bart Scott a five-year, $42 million contract. That's $2 million more than the Jets' offer. Scott also reportedly wants to be assured that he will be the "center piece" of the new defense, which means he would be taking over Ray Lewis' spot. Scott is still negotiating with both clubs. i_am_the_swammi
Brent Celek The fact that the Eagles tried to land Tony Gonzales last year, and have been know to covet one in this year's draft, should tell you everything you need to know about Brent Celek's blocking ability. He's LJ Smith with better hands (forgetting his NFC Championship Game dropsies) and durability.

tazinib1
Free agent WR Reggie Williams was arrested for a DWI and possession .97 grams of Josh Gordon, both class B misdemeanors. The amount of Josh Gordon may be small, but the stupidity is enormous. Williams got arrested two hours after free agency started, immediately killing his shaky value on the open market. Williams failed three sobriety tests. What an idiot.
