A league source tells us that the Arizona Cardinals are shopping receiver Anquan Boldin to potential trade partners. Warner recently has suggested that he’d devote a portion of his salary to signing Boldin to a new contract. (We don’t think Warner really means it.) Boldin, a six-year veteran, is signed through 2010. He has wanted for roughly a year a significant increase from his current range of $2.5 million to $3 million. With teammate Larry Fitzgerald at $10 million per year, Boldin is believed to want at least $9 million annually. Boldin previously has requested a trade. At one point after the Super Bowl, Boldin said that he would not sign a new deal with the Cardinals, and that he wanted to be dealt to a new team. More recently, he had softened in his position, expressing a willingness to consider a new long-term contract to stay with the team. ------------------------------------------ So how does this end? I know some have said that they still think he ends up as a Cardinal. However, some think that the G-men or Eagles would be nice landing spots. How do you hope it ends? Supposedly, they might be asking for what the Lions got for Roy Williams when they traded him to the Cowboys. And Dallas gave up a 1, 3 and 6 to get Roy. I believe they got the Lions 4th back though. Not to go off topic here but since you mentioned Dallas and their need for a WR at one point I was hoping Dallas would have Heyward-Bey fall to them and after his great combine and Pro-Day, there's no shot at that happening. I don't want to completely mortgage my future by giving up both 1st rounders. That's basically what I was saying with my earlier post. I thought that the Eagles have enough picks beyond the 1st round that they might give a combo of multiple picks in the 2nd through 6th. I'm thinking that's just "coach speak", attempting to get the best out of both guys in a "healthy" battle and then just putting Sage in as the starter. It would make me a little nervous to give up a 1st round pick two years in a row, but Boldin is a proven top WR, and I think if he can stay healthy he should be around for a good long time still.
