PATS-BILLS IN MONDAY NIGHT OPENER?

Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2009, 1:05 p.m.

A couple of weeks ago, ESPN’s Tony Kornheiser hinted that the Monday Night Football crew would return to Buffalo in 2009.

According to Ron Borges of the Boston Herald, the Bills and the Patriots are expected to launch the Monday Night Football schedule with a throwback game featuring their old AFL uniforms.

The game would feature the debut of receiver Terrell Owens with the Bills, and the return of Pats quarterback Tom Brady.

It’s unclear whether the game will be played in Buffalo or Foxborough.

The presence of an all-AFC game as the early offering for the traditional Monday night doubleheader suggests that the late game that night will feature two NFC teams. The game will kick off after 10:00 p.m. EDT, which likely means that the Cardinals, 49ers, or Seahawks will be the home team.

Nope. They are using this for the 50th year of the the AFL/AFC, so the late game is also AFC - San Diego @ Oakland.
