I made one over a charcoal fire last week and it turned out pretty well Crust was inconsistant, but it was one of those dairy secstion cylinder things and I expected this. Bier Meister
not on the grill... in very hot woodburning ovens and pizza stones.
untateve
I've done them on the Egg. I use a pizza stone, make my own dough and they are really good. I cook them at around 550 to 600 degrees.
Atlanta Cracker
I've done them on the Egg. I use a pizza stone, make my own dough and they are really good. I cook them at around 550 to 600 degrees. +1 except I buy the dough at Publix or Trader Joes. Much easier that way. Even on a regular grill I would guess a pizza stone would be valuable. paulzale
I have made my own dough, rolled very thin, olive oiled the grates, put dough on for roughly 30 seconds, flip add toppings and cook until cheese melted = delicious!
Azazello1313
I kinda don't get the point of this, versus using your dang oven.
chester
I kinda don't get the point of this, versus using your dang oven. Why do you cook anything on the grill, you get the grill flavor, you don't heat up the house in summer, and you get to hang out on the deck. And, Az, it's fun to do something diferent. untateve
I kinda don't get the point of this, versus using your dang oven. Ever have a wood fired pizza? My oven only goes to 500 degrees, The Egg has no problem getting to 600 degrees.
Azazello1313
and lest we forget....the cavemen didn't cook their pizzas in ovens.
TDFFFreak
Ever have a wood fired pizza? My oven only goes to 500 degrees, The Egg has no problem getting to 600 degrees. The Egg also folds your laundry.
tazinib1
If you ever have the chance to go to Sally's in New Haven,Conn., I strongly recommend it. Cooking your pizza over a coal grill (an Egg is best) is about as close as you can get to brick oven (coal fueled) pizza.
Czarina
We make ours on the grill often. We don't use a stone, we put it right on the grates. It goes really fast, so you have to have everything ready to hand. We preheat our grill to about 450, then throw on the dough. After a minute or two, you'll see it start bubbling up a bit. We use a pizza peel to flip it at that point and turn the heat down some. Throw on the toppings you want and shut the lid. In a couple minutes, it's all melty and delicious. Az, the flavor you get when the bread is grilled rather than oven baked is awesome. Worth a try.
