irish
What the hell is gonna happen with the slew of RBs for the Patriots this year? Fred Taylor- Starter? 1st and 2nd down guy Sammy Morris- GL/short yardage RB Kevin Faulk- 3rd down/passing situation guy Benjarvis Green-Ellis- ?? Laurence Maroney- ?? This is surely a situation to avoid as who would really be worth owning? Kevin Faulk did have the most value (PPR leagues) last year as he had double digit point production in 10 out of the 15 weeks he played, averaging almost 13 points per week on about 10 touches per week (4 of them receptions). 3 out of the 5 other weeks he had 1.8, 2.8 and 3.2 points. He would seem like the most likely candidate to draft especially in PPR leagues but he was forced to take on more of the load with the other rBs hurt or new. Sammy Morris also had some success before he got hurt for a bit, as he played 13 weeks and had double digit points in 6 of those weeks. He averaged about 11 and a half points per week on about 10-12 touches. Green-Ellis came in for a short period when Morris went down to help handle the load and in the 6-7 weeks he played, he posted 3 double digit performances himself. Jordan played sparingly early on but then was handed the largest workload out of all the RBs down the stretch and posted 3 out of 3 double digit point totals in weeks 15, 16 and 17. And last but not...well least, is Maroney who was a bust last season getting hurt and missing most of the year. TDs Morris- 7 Faulk- 6 (3 receiving) Green-Ellis- 5 Jordan- 4 (all at the end of the year when he came on) Maroney- 0 (And to think some thought Maroney was going to be a Top 10 RB last year. Hell, he may not even have a defined/steady role this coming year. Just seems that he can't stay healthy. So now with Jordan out of the picture and Fred Taylor added to the mix, what happens? Will Faulk continue to be the guy to own (PPR leagues) or will Taylor step up and have the most value? If Morris remains healthy could he be the main man scoring all the TDs. And what roles will Maroney/Green-Ellis play? Green-Ellis, from what I've read, is no longer able to go on the practice squad. Or worst case scenerio, no one really has any solid/consistent value (as Faulk did last year) because they all steal some action from the others- Faulk the receptions, Taylor the majority of yards/carries, Morris the TDs and Maroney/Green-Ellis a little from the other guys. NAUgrad
Definitely a stay away from all at this point. Faulk is typically the most reliable but that's a big strech at this point. He would be work a pick very late in a ppr draft.
Crazysight
Morris is the best of the bunch when healthy and has been a team favorite in the run game for his punishing style the past two years. ROYALWITCHEESE
Now is the time to draft Maroney. You can get him really late. Everyone has given up...forgetting his talent...forgetting what he can do when he is healthy...forgetting he will be extremely motivated this year...forgetting what he did down the stretch in 2007 when the Pats rode him to 18-0. They have realized he is not a 300 carry guy. They brought in Taylor to play the Dillon role. This is the year Maroney gets it done. 1300 total yards and 7 TDs.
