Ziachild007
First-round pick Brian Cushing (6-3, 243), the USC linebacker whom the Texans targeted early on in the draft process, can line up at all three linebacker positions. Texans coaches love his intensity and expect him to immediately vie for the starting strongside linebacker spot.
Tford
I don't understand why Cushing was a necessity for the Texans..... Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Zach Diles the team's leading tackler before he broke his leg? Even better than the great DeMeco Ryans? Cato June would have been a fine stopgap to allow for Adibi to come along slowly at WILL and Diles could have resumed his role at SAM. I would have liked to see maybe a Vontae Davis here or something like that. Back to what's done, I don't think you are going to see Diles-like numbers from Cushing. I think the Texans still roll Diles out enough to cut into Cushing's numbers. Cushing also seems like the kind of guy who dives into his gap headfirst and would get sucked up by blocks and fooled by playaction. But then again, he probably is the same kind of guy who could fight off said blocks enough to still be effective. Call me crazy but I think that Cushing playing SAM equals more opportunity for DeMeco Ryans if he can stay healthy. I'm staying away from this guy in fantasy drafts. Not just because he is a SAM, but because I think that he gets eliminated from plays in the NFL. I don't see him overpowering his blocker on every play like he was able to do in college. Just my two cents.
