Gotta love bettors...Vegas articfically lowers the odds on some of the more popular teams because they know the idiot general public will bet on them regradless.

Look who the number 2 favorite in the NFC is  ...they may not finish .500 with their schedule.

Yep, they did that last year with the Steelers. They suckered a bunch of people into betting on.................oh wait..... nevermind.

:D

Just kidding. You make a good point.

I've never done this.

So let's say I go out to Vegas this Summer and make a bet on one (or a couple) of these teams to win the Superbowl... what do I do if I win? Do I have to fly back out to Vegas to collect my winnings? Just not sure how it works.

I've never done it either, but would think that you would have to make another trip to Vegas to redeem your winnings. I would have no problem taking a trip to Vegas to pick up my 10,000 if the Bengals win the superbowl. I bet you I don't come back with a penny remaining from that 10 grand though.

As I understand it, you send them your ticket, no copies, via certified mail, with a return envelope included. Insure accordingly.

I've never done it though. Gonna cash mine in in about 10 days in Vegas.

I might drop some on the Rams and Chefs.

Can you do that legally outside of Vegas?

I've never bet on games but always find myself wishing I had at the end of the year based on the silly odds for a team winning the superbowl. I'd have no problem dropping $50 for the season ($10 of 5 teams). Especially something like Atlanta AND the Saints as I feel them being in the same division kind of helps my odds overall.

That is correct. I had that happen with college football games about 3 years ago. Didn't win enough to constitute another trip, but got my money that way. Sad thing is I left early on Sunday and could have cashed it in before I lleft. Totally forgot about it because of the  !

Seahawks at 50/1. I don't necessarily love this year's version of the Seahawks, but the core of this team is still just a few seasons removed from a Super Bowl appearance, and yes, they still play in the NFC West. You could make a worse play.

Definitely. Hasselback healthy, add Housh and a pretty scary LB corps even if they don't resign Hill. But my pick would be Philly at 16:1, I think this could be their year.

if these are odds to WIN the Super Bowl the Eagles might as well be a million to one. :D

Division winners... this one sticks out to me for some reason (who will win the NFC South):

Atlanta Falcons +500

Carolina Panthers +250

New Orleans Saints +180

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +180

The Falcons are somewhat of a "longshot" according to the odds, but I think they have as good of a chance as anybody. Not a bad play, especially in comparison to the others in the division. Hundred dollar bet pays five bills. I also think Washington isn't a bad play, either, considering the odds:

Dallas Cowboys +225

New York Giants +150

Philadelphia Eagles +180

Washington Redskins +800

The only two other teams in the NFL with odds that good or better are the Lions (+1800) and the Rams (+800). Not saying I'm picking Washington to win the NFC East, but I'd consider throwing $50 at them, with a chance to win $400 if they win their division. In my opinion, they certainly shouldn't be the team with the third "worst chance" at winning their division. :D

DJ,

Where did these odds come from? The reason I ask is a lot of the sources for odds like this are never available in the casino's sportsbook. Maybe at some little place, but I want the place to be there if I win. My cuz's SO wanted me to place a bet for him last year on da Bears @ 25-1. I told him the Flam was 15-1. He said shop around! I told him to have sex w/ himself, as I wasn't going to waste my vacation time looking for his odds! Turns out his supposed odds were from the IP. Hello...the Flam., Ceasars, Bally's, Paris,IP, et al share the same odds and it was 15-1.

I'll try to get the current odds and post them here after my trip. I'll almost guarantee they will be much lower.
