DMD
I am only in the starting phases of rankings but for FF Index magazine they had their draft earlier this year. It is always one of the most interesting drafts of the year since it is the first one for everyone involved. It is for a "all play" league where top scorers count as your starters (qb-2RB-3WR-TE-PK-DEF) and no PPR. QBs are all the higher scorers and WRs are not so much because of no PPR. Even a great TE is not that big a deal and yet DEF score about the same as top WR. I opted for a "no rookie" plan this year. I picked #5. I wanted to get two top 10 QB, a decent set of RB and 2 good DEF. WR and TE are important but I consider them secondary to the other positons. qb Aaron Rodgers 4 qb Carson Palmer 6 qb Brady Quinn rb LaDainian Tomlinson 1 rb Marion Barber 2 rb Joseph Addai 5 rb Julius Jones rb T.J. Duckett wr Marques Colston 3 wr Laveranues Coles 7 wr Deion Branch wr Devery Henderson wr Bryant Johnson wr Plaxico Burress wr Laurent Robinson te John Carlson te Jeremy Shockey pk Adam Vinatieri pk Shayne Graham def MIN def BAL def ARI People LOVE rookies in this draft and the backups I wanted - Sproles, F Jones, D. Brown all went before I could get them. I picked up Burress as an 18th round lark. I'll post the entire draft once I get it. I was surprised how WR and TE were raided in a non-PPR but whatever. About the only pick I really did not care for was Brady Quinn as the QBs were draining fast and I just missed some far better ones. This draft is usually pretty indicative of how common wisdom is going to go and if so, then people are really buying into the rookie RB and WR this year. But it is going to be really hard to get the "sets" like T Jones/Green and Addai / Brown. Jamal Lewis lasted a loooong time. Moreno went about 4th round as I recall. Wideouts seem no less a mixed bag this year. I'll post it when I get it. (ADDED) 1 Adrian Peterson 2 Maurice Jones-Drew 3 Michael Turner 4 Matt Forte 5 LaDainian Tomlinson (between him and DW, went with LT) 6 DeAngelo Williams 7 Steven Jackson 8 Chris Johnson 9 Clinton Portis 10 Larry Fitzgerald 11 Steve Slaton 12 Brian Westbrook 13 Andre Johnson 14 Randy Moss 15 Calvin Johnson 16 Brandon Jacobs 17 Frank Gore 18 Reggie Wayne 19 Steve Smith 20 Marion Barber (wanted Steve Smith but he was last of my tier 1 WR so MBIII best RB there to get) 21 Roddy White 22 Greg Jennings 23 Dwayne Bowe 24 Drew Brees 25 Brandon Marshall (all those WR in a non-PPR surprised me) 26 Ryan Grant 27 Pierre Thomas (surprise) 28 Anquan Boldin 29 Marques Colston (Happy to get him here, figured better get one decent WR) 30 Reggie Bush (surprise) 31 Kevin Smith 32 Tom Brady 33 T.J. Houshmandzadeh 34 Peyton Manning 35 Ronnie Brown 36 Braylon Edwards 37 Terrell Owens 38 Larry Johnson 39 Willie Parker 40 Antonio Bryant 41 Chad Johnson 42 Wes Welker 43 Kurt Warner 44 Aaron Rodgers (doh - wanted Warner) 45 Marshawn Lynch 46 Vincent Jackson 47 Jason Witten 48 Knowshon Moreno 49 Jonathan Stewart 50 Santana Moss 51 Roy Williams 52 DeSean Jackson 53 Joseph Addai (happy enough considering he came between Jonathan Stewart and Derrick Ward) 54 Eddie Royal 55 Donovan McNabb 56 Derrick Ward 57 Philip Rivers 58 Darren McFadden 59 Thomas Jones 60 Santonio Holmes 61 LenDale White 62 Tony Romo 63 Dallas Clark 64 Tony Gonzalez 65 Anthony Gonzalez 66 Antonio Gates 67 Chris Wells 68 Carson Palmer (whew - happy here. QBs count big in this scoring) 69 Lance Moore 70 Cedric Benson 71 Bernard Berrian 72 Michael Crabtree (this seemed optimistic to me) 73 Donald Brown (oops - wanted him) 74 Matt Schaub 75 Kevin Walter 76 Felix Jones (oops - wanted him) 77 Laveranues Coles (settled for Coles when Fleix was taken, Needed a WR anyway) 78 Hines Ward 79 Jerricho Cotchery 80 Owen Daniels 81 Donald Driver 82 Darren Sproles (what the hell - why steal sproles at the 6.10?) 83 Lee Evans 84 Donnie Avery 85 LeRon McClain 86 Kellen Winslow 87 Torry Holt (not high on Holt this year but this was probably a steal) 88 Laurence Maroney 89 Earnest Graham 90 Fred Taylor 91 Jay Cutler 92 Julius Jones (no big fan of JJ but SEA has a great rush sked and they have no other runners for some reason) 93 Steve Breaston 94 Jamal Lewis 95 Chester Taylor 96 Devin Hester 97 Rashard Mendenhall 98 Matt Ryan 99 Ben Roethlisberger 100 Fred Jackson
keggerz
Coles in round 7 should be very good value. I will be interested to see where a guy like Greg Jones went in this draft as I think he will be a nice value in most drafts this year.

tazinib1
Wow what a fall for Addai who went top 10 last year. And yes, Coles in the 7th is fantastic value...PPR or not. Also...interesting to see that Palmer is picking up steam. I don't think you will be able to get him in the 6th as we approach July. Coles was the best on my board in the 7th to be sure and I was glad to get him. Jones went 18.02 - pretty late IMO

I don't think you will be able to get him in the 6th as we approach July. I took him at the 5.05 as my third back which I was pleased with. But Donald Brown went 7.01. I got Palmer with my 6.05 pick and was really happy he was there. I think a lot of drafters forget what he did until injured last year and though Houshmandzadeh is gone, I think others will take his place. I would take Palmer every draft if I knew he would be there at the 6th round.

piratesownninjas
Where did Ryan Grant go? Before the draft he was going 5-7th rounds. No way he falls that far. I think the 3rd is about right.
Randall
No way he falls that far. I think the 3rd is about right. In February and March he did. There were several drafts like this in MFL. That's why I was asking.

Oh I know he was there in Febuary and March... But people will come to there senses and realize the guy is in a good situation with no real threat to his job. piratesownninjas
Lynch before Moreno and Stewart? I don't think it's crazy at all. Chances are that he'll be on his best behavior and will only miss a game. If this happens, he should be draft WAY earlier than Moreno and Stewart. I think he destroys them talent wise. Stewart is firmly the no.2 back on his team, and Moreno, who I do like is a bit of a wildcard. Who knows what his role will be? Will he be in on goalline downs? With Lynch, you know what you're getting.

piratesownninjas
Oh no you didn't. Yes I do. Lynch was a beast at Cal, and has been a beast in Buffalo. Stewart hasn't done anything at this level to warrent being placed ahead of him. Stewart needs to win the starting job on his own team before he can be in a discussion with Lynch.
