James Harrison

"James Harrison refuses to join the rest of his organization when they visit the White House later this week. Analysis: "This is how I feel - if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don't win the Super Bowl. As far as I'm concerned, [Obama] would've invited Arizona if they had won," Harrison said. The White House has not responded to whether they will consider ending their reign of disrespect to the 31 non-Champion teams."

It never fails to amaze me how league superstars can be such cognitively-impaired lunks away from the field. The tradition is that the white house invites the Superbowl winner, not the team that the President "likes best." And yes James Harrison, the President of the United States has all the time in the world to invite all of the teams that didn't win the Superbowl over to the White House to "hang-out." And people call Obama a socialist!

Considering that Obama was rooting for the Steelers in the first place and is, I believe, a die-hard Steelers fan Harrison's perspective is all the more ludicrous.

'As far as I'm concerned, [Obama] would've invited Arizona if they had won," Harrison said.' Ahh...yeah. That's kind of the point, James. The team that wins it all gets the invite. We have a tradition of rewarding success, not failure, in this country. Maybe that whole banking-bailout thing has you confused about that.

But if you don't want all the perks that go along with winning and being a champion, feel free to hand me your Superbowl ring and defensive MVP trophy. I'll be happy to take that enormous paycheck of yours, too.

I don't know. He's a passionate guy and I'm trying to understand his point.

They are inviting the winners but not the losers? There has to be more to this than that.

Maybe he's pissed the banks are treated much better than the auto workers. This is about more than sports.

He skipped the invite after the last SB win too. Maybe a Steelers homer can say what this is all about.

 Well, Harrison certainly has an overwhelming grasp of the obvious...

Hell, Obama should have invited Detroit. Then he could have congratulated them on their perfect season and handed them a bailout so that they could continue to fail, but on the taxpayer's dime.

Example # whatever why the political opinions of athletes and movie stars are essentially worthless.

This isn't effing pop warner, they don't have a pizza party for the whole league at the end of the season. Winner goes to the White House, the other 31 don't. Pretty simple actually.

Way to take a stand there James.

Green party maybe. He didn't go when Bush was president either.

Well there ya go. He must just not think a helluva lot about the politicos in DC. If this is the case.....I agree.......lol.

Or maybe he doesn't think the White House needs anymore photo ops.

Hey, if he wants to come out and say that he hates all politicians, that's certainly a fair stance to take. Maybe that sentiment was buried in the body of his actual quote. Sounds like he's saying, "You only want to see me because we won the SB."

Well, uh, yeah. That's pretty much it James. In fact, the only reason why there's a mic in front of you right now is because you're really good at hitting people. The day you're not, you'll matter about as much as the rest of us. Sucks for you.

 Weak.

However, when I saw the title of the post, my heart sank. I'm thankful he didn't do something worse. Sadly, that is the way the NFL is now.....You see a post that says "James Harrison...what a bonehead" and my first thoughts are "Oh no, drugs, arrest, etc. etc."

He doesn't have to go.

I'd bet there a lot of people that wouldn't want to go to the White House.

Chmura skipped out when GB won the SB due to politics; which is a shame, because hindsight showsChewy and Clinton had at least one common interest (bangin' teenagers).

Hmmm.

Nothing to see here.

On the contrary. Watching a train wreck of a human being speak will never go out of style. A more intelligent person once said....Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

That's true.

I wonder if Joe Thomas would skip it to go fishing.
