Matt Forte observes practice but MRI results not known

By Vaughn McClure

Bears running back Matt Forte observed Thursday's organized team activities but did not participate, according to an NFL source. Forte was scheduled to undergo an MRI Thursday morning, but the Bears would not confirm that the procedure was performed.

Forte limped off the field following Wednesday's practice, apparently after hearing a pop in his left leg. It was believed to be either a hamstring or calf injury considering that Forte pointed to pain behind his knee.

With Forte sidelined, running back Kevin Jones ran with the first-team offense.

Via his Twitter account, Forte said he would be ``good'' hours after the injury. Offensive coordinator Ron Turner also figured Forte would be fine, although Turner cautioned that the medical staff would make the final determination.

This could really put a damper on the expectations I have for a guy who I feel could very well take over as Fantasy Football's #1 RB. Hopefully it's minor but I just hate to hear the word Pop, unless a coochie is involved.

yup, sucks for my dynasty team, sucks for him, sucks for Cutler and The Bears.

I thought about trading for Kevin Jones, but if I don't have Forte, I doubt KJ will put me in the playoffs.

The only silverlining is if he tore a ligament, he should be near 100% for 2010.

KJ is plenty talented. His issues have always been based on durability. If he stays healthy he will do as well as Forte.

Matt Forte was reportedly diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and it's not believed to be serious.

Forte could sit out the next two weeks with the Bears playing it cautiously. He also underwent an MRI as a precautionary measure, but multiple sources say that Forte will be just fine. Though hamstring injuries can linger, it doesn't sound like Forte's is a long-term concern. He should be fine by training camp. Jun. 4 - 9:26 pm et

WHEW...for now. I have him in one dynasty. His rookie performance allowed me to trade SJax in mid season for Megatron, Aaron Rodgers and the rookie pick that became Knowshon Moreno.
