I have gotten THE BEST culinary advice from people in this forum so here is my question. What exactly does peanut butter add to hot dogs and hamburgers that have gotten some folks so smitten. I am not knocking it by any means. Just an inquiring mind wants to know. I am getting ready to go to the grocery store, and yes a jar of PB will be bought. I was gonna hit this up yesterday but ended up runnin' into a mess of rib tips that I hit with some smoke on the Weber and finished off in the oven. Now these are some cantankerous little S.O.B.s unless you can clear the meat right off the bone hence the oven finishing. Spittin' out them little end tips is like sunflower seeds for bar-b-que lovers! Regardless, peanut butter and hot dogs today fellas. Prolly some burgers too Beir, per your recommendation. Anything else you would put on the burger to make more of a "thai" burger? well... do you just want to turn it into a thai sauce? big spoon or two of creamy peanut butter. 1/2 tbs minced ginger 1/2 tbs minced garlic wee bit of fish sauce 1/2 tbs soy 1/8 c chopped cilantro 1/8 c chopped gr. onion enough water to give you the texture you want... i have also added sambal and/or may ploy sweet thai chili sauce to some i've made Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I mean, it was alright, I would do back flips over it or anything but it by no means was terrible. Worth a try if you have all the proper condiments at your house. I'd never heard of this until a few weeks ago when the spouse came home from work raving about a "peanut butter & bacon" pizza that she had for lunch that day from some joint near work. Apparently, they replace the traditional tomato sauce layer with a layer of PB instead, then cover with bacon strips before blasting it in the pizza oven. While I generally am on board with the idea that adding bacon to almost any food item is a good thing, the peanut butter pizza sauce notion just seemed a bit bizarre to me ... from what the spouse tells me however, this PB pizza is one of the most popular items sold at this particular pizza place, so I must be in the minority.
