Most of the training camp attention will focus on the quarterback battle, or maybe Michael Crabtree's holdout/arrival, but the real story might be the new run-first offense Mike Singletary is looking for. Is Frank Gore up for an increased workload? Should fantasy players have a preference in the quarterback battle? And can Crabtree be the exception to the rule that rookie wide receivers are seen but rarely heard from on the fantasy scoresheet?

I'm a firm believer in old-school coaches who earn the players' respect. Singletary certainly fits that description. And what the hell, it's not the toughest of divisions. I could see them winning the West.

I could see Crabtree lighting things up by midseason if one of the QBs can step up and be halfway decent.

Not that I'm a being a homer or anything like that, but the 49er Defense(in my league's point system) in 2008 weeks 2 and 3 combined was a top 10 Defense, and I think they could easily post those types of numbers again in any 2 week stretch in 2009.

sometimes you just get a gut feeling and have one about the 9ers this year

I believe they end the season with a winning record and they do it mostly relying on their def not giving up more than 3 scores
