MrTed46
I WILL NOT DRAFT TRAVIS HENRY AGAIN ! Let me get my glasses, I can't see your post
rai
I could put together a pretty solid squad from your list of undraftables... Palmer Gore / LT / Westbrook Marshall / Royal / Cotchery / Hester / Avery Granted, that might be a high risk, high reward team, but I think I'd have a hard time coming up with a competitive team if I had THAT many guys on my "don't touch" list. It's all about value, and I don't really think there is anybody on your list that I wouldn't take, in the right format, circumstance, situation, etc. I'm personally staying away from the four-headed monsters that are the NE and DEN running backs. That doesn't mean I won't draft Moreno, Buckhalter, Hillis, Faulk, etc.... if they fall to me in the right spot. I've done several drafts, both mock and real, this year, and I have noticed some trends... Here are some guys who are generally taken long before I would want to grab them: - Brady (I'd rather have the less-risky Brees if I'm going to spend a high pick on a QB) - Favre (I'll take a flier on him as a late pick, or as a backup to a solid starter, but that's about it) - Steven Jackson (I have him in a league where I grabbed him in the 2nd round, and even then, I'm thinking I maybe should have passed) - McFadden (just not sold that he's going to be anything more than a very good complimentary back, whether it be to Bush, Fargas, or both) - Moreno (What a mess... I drafted him #1 overall in a dynasty rookie draft in April. Wouldn't touch him as anything more than a RB3 in a redraft, and he's not lasting nearly that long) - P. Thomas (This may be more due to my draft position than anything else. I've been slotted towards the bottom of most redrafts, and he has been going late 2nd, early 3rd in most that I've been a part of... doesn't make it back to me at the point where I would take him). - Wells (Like Moreno, due to early injuries, I'm just not sold he's going to get the bulk of the work, until maybe mid-season... I'll gladly spend my 4th-6th rounders elsewhere, and pick up Hightower in the 10th or later). - Addai (burned once too many times by this guy... I view him as nothing more than a RB3, and he's still being drafted as a RB2. I'll pass and take Brown, with more upside, as my third RB.) - J. Stewart (I just think Williams, as long as he's healthy, is the man.) - Coles (not sure Henry won't be the 2nd most productive WR in Cinci this year) - Roy Williams (Dude is slow as molasses... strength is catching jump balls, which is not really a true characteristic of a go-to guy. I'm not convinced he'll ever be a productive WR1 again, and wouldn't want him as anything more than my 3rd WR). - D. Jackson (Love the guy, and think he's going to be a stud someday... I'm just not convinced he should be going in the 4th round, when there are so many weapons in Philly). There isn't a single guy listed above that I wouldn't draft... In fact, I have a few of them. Generally, though, I just see them going earlier than I would be comfortable drafting them. excellent post I don't think S.Jax is lasting out of the first round period. I think he's a good/great 1RB Brady, I believe, is going to be better than Brees, I believe Brady is the top QB ever and when healthy he's the man, and outside that freak injury he has been healthy and I think he will play 16 this year. He has the chance for 40+ TDs. But personal preference, I don't have Brady or Brees that far apart where I would be bumbed about drafting either one. rai
Let me get my glasses, I can't see your post The point is there are guys you say to yourself, I'm going to be sorry I did this and yet you go ahead and draft him any way. Travis Henry was a special case because he was 'suspended' much of the year (07) and yet he was never actually suspended. You could never figure out if he was going to play or not and he was too good to drop and so he took up a roster spot all year. He led the league in rushing after the first 4 weeks 3 of the first 4 weeks he had 128 or more yards rushing. At the time I drafted him I had a bad feeling about it. I was jus kidding Every year there is at least one Travis Henry, sometimes it is hard to tell who it will be. Last year Larry Johnson bent people over. Last year Larry Johnson bent people over. Actually, I think the worst had to be the Tom Brady incident. I knew a couple keeper leagues that sold the farm on draft picks to aquire him, only to get knocked out for the season in the first game. Some heads blew up shortly there after! Duchess Jack
These are the players on my DO NOT DRAFT list QB - Carson Palmer (always hurt), Marc Bulger, Jake Delhomme, Jason Campbell RB - LT, Larry Johnson, Frank Gore, Darren McFadden, Reggie Bush, Bryant Westbrook (always hurt) WR - Any WR on the Bears, Broncos, 49ers, Jets, Rams Palmer will have a monster year and is amazingly under rated. Delhomme is super under-rated Royal will top 80 catches Bush is going to make people say - Pierre who? I will save this post just in case I have an opening in one of my leagues

Duchess Jack
Sorry man but Viva La France is not going anywhere. maybe not, but he'll compliment Bush quite well. Bush is a PPR monster and should outscore the Frog in a PPR league. I love situations where there is a 1a and a 1b on a team - be at WR or RB. I wait for somebody to reach for the 1a and let 1b fall to me. That's the way I see this situation. Plus - I feel that Bell can do more of what the Frog can do than he can what Bush can do. Pierre is easier to replace imho.
BeeR
maybe not, but he'll compliment Bush quite well. Bush is a PPR monster Yeah. Like Snuffleuppagus. Or Barney. He caught 50 balls last year despite their leading WR being out much of the time. I don't see that going up much if at all. They have too many weapons and he's such a wuss he keeps getting hurt. No thanks My draft hell was drafting Terrell Davis and, because he was starting to be known as a possible injury risk, wisely nabbed O Gary, who did so well the year before when Davis was hurt. BOTH went down for the year. POSs. That and FT cured me of ever drafting a RB1 who is even a mild injury risk (ie even slightly more than avg). Crazysight
Palmer could have a monster year if he stays healthy. That's a legitimately big if as he isn't healthy right now and it looks like he may not see another snap this preseason. That said, even if he is healthy he has yet to have what I would qualify as a true "monster" year in his career, and I wouldn't bank on him having better than a very good (say top 5 or 6) year. Seahawks21
1.Carson Palmer is not a good QB. At least not anymore. 1a. Stephen Jackson I won't draft Matt Ryan. Think Troy Aikman...180 and 1/2 every week like clockwork. I won't draft any Seahawks offensive player but Carlson. Their O-line might be the worst in the NFL this year. Any Bronco but Scheffler LJ Cedric Benson Thomas Jones Jamal Lewis Percy Harvin (although I like him a lot as a talent) Ryan Grant Laurence Maroney Patrick Crayton
kpholmes
Patrick Crayton I like Crayton a lot as a WR3. It's obvious he's low on the priority list for that passing attack, but he finds a way to put up 5-10 points a week when he's starting. Ward is my most likely pick this year to blow up in my face.
