Something That Got Me Steaming

I just talked to a friend of mine and he said that up to 12 teams could be blacked out on Sundays. I am a long time purchaser of the Sunday Ticket and if half the games or more are blacked out that will really piss me off. I was just wondering if anyone else heard about this. I have been looking around seeing if this is true. The only thing I have seen is DirecTV broadcast"s the local telecast which is the one , I guess , that will be blacked out.

The only game you have to worry about is your local market.

Correct. Only if the game is blacked in the local market, then Sunday Ticket has to black out the same game in that market only.

 His Dolphins won't be blacked out in PA.

I'm from PA. so a game in lets say Jacksonville will be aired if it isn't sold out?

They only black out local games. They do this as incentive to get the local people to buy tickets for the game. Since you are in Philly it would do them no good to black out the game for your market b/c you are not going to go to Jax to see the game.

Another way to get people to come to your teams games is by not being jerks to the fans. That's another road owners might think about taking.

I've never understood that logic. I wouldn't root for the Broncos if I couldn't watch them on TV.

If I'm not mistaken - and I very well may be - isn't the blackout zone a 75 mile radius from the stadium? At least it used to be way back before cable...

and the 75 miles could be in the outskirts of another TV market, such as a very small part of the Syracuse, NY TV market is within 75 miles of Buffalo, but that whole market is blacked out if the Bills don't sell out.
