UW looking like they're back!

Two costly turnovers costing my Huskies a lead. Polk is impressive and Holt has this defense playing hard and determined. Outplaying the Tigers on both sides. The Dawghouse is rockin!!

With the first 1/2 almost over, they are dominating everywhere but on the scoreboard. Those turnovers will likely come back to haunt them.

These announcers on this telecast are a joke. Can they hug LSU's sack anymore than they have? If I have to hear about "how tired LSU is" and how great they are or how bad Washington is, I'm going to puke. Let's give the Huskies a little credit. They gave up a couple big plays and LSU had a defensive TD, other than that Washington played right with the Tigers. We controlled the clock and dominated in total yeards. We just need to learn "how to" win. Were on track though and I like what I saw tonight.

Optimism is a great thing. But then reality sets in, and losing sucks. Trust me, I know the feeling tonight.....

I hear you but I, unlike your situation, have been looking for "moral" victories more than expected victories. I'd much rather be in your position but I really liked what I saw from my Huskies tonight. You can see the change in the play calling and the defensive philosophy. But more importantly, Sark and Holt have these kids believing in themselves again. With a Top 10-15 recruiting class on it's way to Montlake next year and Lockers continued maturation under Sarkisian I see the winning tradition returning to Husky Nation very soon.

they certainly looked good in the 1st half. But I just couldnt bear hearing anymore a bout the Sooners loss at halftime, so I shut it off then.....

The announcers were fine IMO. When UW gave up 14 points on turnovers in the first half the writing was on the wall. The dawgs looked much better on all phases of the game than what I'd expect might have happened. Locker is playing like he doesn't need to carry the team on his shoulders and made some moderate strives as a throwing QB tonight.

I watched the first half and wasn't impressed with LSU. To me, LSU looked bad on defense as opposed to Washington looking that good. That was not a typical national champion LSU defense. It looked more like last years sorry defense. Didn't see the second half, but LSU didn't look very well on offense either. I think they ought to go ahead and give Russell Shepard a chance as a freshman at QB. Nothing against Washington, but you guys didn't win a single game last year. The LSU team I know and love blows a team like that out of the water by 30 pts. I may be in for a rough year again as 8 and 5 won't cut it two years in a row.

So you determine that because LSU won the NC two years ago and UW didn't win a game last year that the game being close was only because LSU played poorly? One would think that the Huskies had something to do with LSU's defense looking "bad", as you say. As far as their QB play I thought your QB played very well and played with a lot of poise in a very hostile environment. The guy has great ball skills and has poise beyond what you would expect from a 19 year old kid. Watching the game you had to be impressed with LSU's speed and the hard hitting of their back 7. I think that their interior defense was exposed a bit. I love the Peterson kid at CB, I thought he was one of the best DB's last year as a true freshman and it looks like he has potential NFL HOF written all over him. Moving the ball for almost 500 yards on the LSU defense will give the Huskies some confidence as their game with USC approaches. As the Huskies did last year, they gave up two big plays and that was the difference. Watching the game the Huskies outplayed the Tigers but killed themselves at crucial times with a interception for a TD and a blown coverage on a long TD pass.

The one thing that I would like to see from Locker that he needs to start doing if he is to make the move into the "elite" QB status is to move covergae with his eyes. IMO, that's his biggest flaw. If he can improve that part of his game the kid could have a tremendous year and could be great too at the next level. It also looks like he, for once, has a weapon at WR with the true freshman, James Johnson. I am interested to see the play calling in two weeks when Carrol, Sarkisian and Holt match wits.

Tiger fan here and I was quite impressed with the Huskie squad and what their new coaching staff are doing. This Tiger team is not as strong defensively as ones in the past and Miles always starts off vanilla for him. Sheppard is not even close to starting this is Johnson's team. Sheppard has been getting more work at RB & WR than QB in practices.

Polk is impressive and Locker hooking up with Sarky is going to improve his draft stock tremendously and like you said his maturation has great upturn. The Huskies will have a good season if they can keep the injuries to a minimum.

First off congrats to the Washington Huskies for putting up a great fight and winning the statistical game against LSU this past Saturday. Gotta think most Husky fans were satisfied with how their team played against a quality SEC opponent.

FWIW Department: LSU 31-23 victory over Washington improves the Tiger's all-time overall record against the PAC 10 conference to an impressive 12-2 which includes an undefeated (4-0) record on the road against PAC 10 competition. Side note: Coach Miles is 20-0 against non SEC schools since coming to LSU.

As I mentioned in another thread I was abit surprised that LSU was so highly ranked (9th and 11th) in the preseason polls considering their overall performance last season. Not to mention the Tigers are starting a young and inexperience QB. Who by the way played pretty damn good against Washington considering the hostile environment.

First impressions of LSU:

LSU OFFENSE - Thought LSU's RB Charles Scott got away from what he does best and that is running north and south. Admittedly there weren't a lot of holes in the line to run, but I still thought Scott was hesitating at the line way too much while attempting to bounce to another hole. Later in the game I recall him running like last year into a pile of players and coming out on the other side for a nice 4 to 5 yard gain. LSU's other RB Keiland Williams did a nice job in the 2nd half not only getting outside but also cutting it up field vs simply running out of bounds. In regard to the passing game, it was great not to see a LSU QB NOT thrown a pick 6 and to see LSU's Tolliver step up to have his best game of his college career.

LSU DEFENSE: Perhaps that nice screen pass thrown by Washington early in the game when LSU blitzed caused LSU to play very soft defense, but you gotta wonder if this LSU defensive squad is any better than the one we saw last season that gave up 50 plus points several times. A positive about the LSU defense is the TD they scored and causing a critical 1st down fumble early in the game when Washington had driven the ball inside the 10. My biggest concern about the LSU defense is (to the best of my knowledge) that the D never forced a 3 an out. Washington ran it seems twice as many plays as LSU. If this part of the LSU game does not improve dramatically it could be another sub par season for LSU.
