Hugh 0ne
I don't see that as whining at all. Actually, nothing in that article sounds like he's whining, he's just stating his opinion. And this makes sense to me: Everyone talks about the good old days, when guys were tough and quarterbacks got crushed all the time, but back in the day, there weren't defensive ends that were Mario Williams -- 6-7, 300 pounds, 10 percent body fat, running a 4.7
The Irish Doggy
Seemed like an intelligent discussion of a current NFL issue to me.

BearBroncos
Palmer apparently to young to remember the good ole days when head shots were legal, taking out the legs were common and the QB had no protections from the NFL. Yes, they are faster and bigger but to say it's more dangerous that before is almost ludicrous. If they keep up these rule changes, we will soon see the NFL changing their name to NFFL (Flag). An example was the this preseason (granted, I know the officials are practicing as well) when Farve was near the red zone in week 3. The LB for Houston pushed Farve to the ground, while Farve had the ball and was charged a personal foul. That is just freaking crazy! Bronco Billy
I don't see Ms. Downer quoted anywhere in the article. Could you please enlighten us as to who she is and what she has to do with this?

And this makes sense to me: Also there have been a number of paralyzing injuries in football, which could conceivably have been fatal had the angle of impact been slightly different. I think most people recognize this, but it's not something we like to think about. One could argue that bringing up this subject in a FF forum primed with anticipation for a new season is more of a Debbie Downer move than Palmer's comments to SI. BeeR
I stopped when I saw it was a Peter King article; that all but guarantees worthless idiocy. Hey what's the new Starbucks flavor this month? giggle

My point was that Palmer's statement was a dose of reality as I was doing some draft prep, sorry. It wasn't an attempt at humor. I read it on SI, and assumed quite a few people had read it as well

Medal of Honor
I don't see Carson whining at all. This is probably going to happen. Remember Kevin Everett anyone?
