I recall people laughing at the guy that picked Randy in the 2nd round Randy Moss' rookie season: 17 td's. I would say the people who drafted him in the late 8-12th round hit the jackpot. I say Priest Holmes 2000: 800 total yds, 2 td's 2001: 2169 total yds, 10 td's 2002: 2287 total yds, 24 td's
MustOfBeenDrunk
it would have to be Priest Holmes the 1st year he was in KC if memory serves me correct he was coming off a back injury the year before and was traded to KC I drafted him in the 10th round and he single handed won me the champion ship
SheikYerbuti
Larry Johnson went from Dick Vermeil's doghouse to single-handedly delivering thousands of league championships, and back to a Chicken McNobody all the span of a season and a half. Bender Rodriguez
Kurt Warner in '99 with the Rams. Truly out of nowhere. One could even say that he did it again in '07 with the Cards.

rajncajn
Yeah, as far as fantasy impact I don't see how you can argue against Priest. Given he was in the league a few years & people knew who he was & "knew" he was a NFL washout-to-be. Unlike players like Brady & Warner who were surprise backups and Moss & LJ who were highly touted coming out of college, Priest was truly written off yet vaulted to fantasy super-stardom and regardless of the surprise breakout is arguably one of the top overall fantasy players of all time. muck
Not sure of the stats, but other candidates for "out of nowhere to fantasy studs for reasons other than injury to a starter" may include: Terrell Davis (6th round pick) Marques Colston (7th round pick)

Colston, I think, still needs to prove he can be a consistent stud in the league. Balzac
Not sure of the stats, but other candidates for "out of nowhere to fantasy studs for reasons other than injury to a starter" may include: Terrell Davis (6th round pick) Marques Colston (7th round pick) Tiki Barber - he was fantasy mediocrity for a while and then exploded into super-stardom. Same could be said for Westbrook. Curtis Martin? That was before my time in fantasy football land but I can't imagine many people saw his 95/96 coming . . . Domanick Williams/Davis - he kinda came out of nowhere to have 1700 total yards and 14 TDs in 2004. Rueben Droughns was pulled off the Denver scrapheap in 2004 to put up a couple solid seasons a well.
