Bernard Berrian

Vikings injury report: LB Erin Henderson (calf), did not participate; LB Heath Farwell (hamstring), limited in today's practice; G Anthony Herrera (back), limited; TE Jim Kleinsasser (hand), full participation.

What it means: Wide receiver Bernard Berrian was not limited in a practice for the first time in several weeks. Berrian played last Sunday against Cleveland but appeared to be slowed by a hamstring injury suffered in the first preseason game.

He wasn't listed so here's hoping he is close to 100%...

Farve has neutered Berrian with his complete lack of a downfield game.

This sucks for me as I have Berrian, but isn't this what MN fans wanted? Just someone to hand off to AP?

Oh yeah, I have now completely soured on Berrian. Thanks, Favre.

Well Mr. Berrian, meet the bench. Looks like Steve Smith (NYG) just took your place on my team.

This is note to everyone that Berrian will go off next week. So far I've managed to sit Hasselback over Schaub in week 1 and then played HAss over Schaub this week so I think the juggling WR3 trick will start next week.

Vikings coach Brad Childress squashed thoughts that he's not looking to get the ball downfield in the passing game.

If only Brett Favre and Bernard Berrian could have played together 10 years ago, they might really have something. But Berrian, who averaged 20.1 yards per catch in 2008, is averaging 7.7 yards per catch this season. "[Favre] is playing the way we need him to play to win," Childress said. "Are we looking for balls up the field? We are ... we just haven't had that many yet."

Two reasons Farve has not gone downfield much yet:

1. Missing preseason does hurt. He is playing very safe early on but I expect as the weeks go on he will be opening it up more

2. Look at the opponents. I know neither game was in hand until the third quarter but Favre didn't NEED to throw deep to get the Vikings to a 2-0 start against two inferior opponents...

Yea..... Schaub over Hass week one and Hass over Schaub in week two.... Thank god I don't have to make that decision again for awhile....

Don't give up on Berrain yet. To many things that is preventing him from being explosive. First, the Farve / Berrain connection. Farve is still finding his grove. Next, Berrain is still recovering from a hammy so not quite able to make the cuts like he shouild.

Minnesota should be careful and not over play AP. They could ruin thier all star back which I think they are aware of. They are waiting for Farve to get confortable but until then, giving the major workload to AP. Onces there is some confort behind center and AP running strong, watch that deep ball fly at least twice a game.

First even if Berrian is still hurt, Farve hasn't thrown downfield to any other WR either. As for AP being overworked - Chester Taylor.

Farve doesn't go downfield ever - he has lost his arm or his guts -- maybe both. At some point he has to show the other team's defenses that he is willing and able to go deep...
