Who is the best college player in the last decade

1. Vince Young

2. Tim Tebow

3. Matt Leinart

4. Adrian Peterson

5. Reggie Bush

Argument for Tebow:

Tebow has won a NC last yr, a Heisman 2 yrs back, and could win a 2nd NC and Heisman this yr.

Tebow is a perfect college Qb. He is as big as a LB, and week in week out, FLA has better athletes on the field than their opponent. So when he is forced to throw, Wrs are generally wide open. And he isnt easy to bring down as a runner especially with a very skilled OL in front of him.

Argument against Tebow:

The first NC he was the modern day Michael Vick, a spot player as Chris Leak led FLA to the NC, not Tebow. Though he gets credit for winning 2 NC, he only led FLA to one. He was on the team, but certainly not a factor in them getting there or winning that game, as it was QB Chris Leaks team.

Meyer has created the perfect system, plays, etc.. to fit tebows strength, and this makes him a very good coach. But I do not think Meyers system would work at all in the NFL. What made him so good at Utah was he played a system few teams had seen before, Example, but not exact example: Navy vs Ohio St. Its unorthodox, so its not easy to defend, even when Meyer had inferior talent at Utah, his system won him alot of games. At FLA, he will always have superior talent to most teams he plays. Tebow is a great leader, and a great football player. But he lacks the big time moment Vince Young had when he beat a superior team in the NC game.

Argument for Vince

He led his team to an undefeated season, and he slayed Goliath in a game no one thought Texas had a chance to win, and He was the reason why they won. Should have won a Hesiman, as there is no doubt he was the best player in college football that season, but teh media gave it to Reggie Bush, as they thought they were giving it to the best player on the best team. Vince certainly would have won the award in a landslide had the voting came after the NC game. Had a record of 29-2 in 2.5 seasons, with both loses coming to #1 and #5 OU. Won 2 Rose Bowl, against Michigan and SC, from a team that isnt in the Pac 10, or Big 10 conference. Not easy to get to that game, when outside those 2 conferences.

Argument against Vince:

He left school early, with a loaded Texas team behind him. Though he would have been the favorite to win the Heisman, and another NC, if he returned.

Argument for Leinart:

Leinart is the only other player I think really has a chance to be in the discussion. Leinart led SC to 1 BCS Championship, another AP Championship, a Heisman Trophy, and played in another BCS Champ losing to VInce Young and Texas. SC was one of the best teams in the country for an extended period of time.

Argument against Leinart:

He lost the NC game to Vince Young and texas, with the superior team at every position, but 1. QB. And if you are not the best QB on the field, how can you be the best QB of the last decade.

My vote is for Vince. I hate texas, but this guy was the best player I have ever seen, in perhaps the greatest football game ever. the Texas upset of #1 ranked SC, in what some call the best team ever assembled in college football.

I'd go

1. Tebow

2. Young

3. Bush

4. Leinart

5. Peterson

Transfer these players to other schools and then decide who is the best.

Tebow and Young go to K-State, does either win a Big 12 North title?

Bush and Peterson go to Tulane, are they talking about a heisman?

Leinart goes to Utah, are they any better?

Peterson stands out the most to me as making a new team better.

I watched so much video of peterson before he was drafted and especially after.-their might have been better college players in your standards- but there is a million different standards to judge a player in college football by, and according to mine-There is was only one. Peterson.

He had every move" stiff arm, spin, hurdle, side step, burst, vision, strength, the ability to break tackles and not be tripped up and he wasnt just good at all those things. he was the best or right up there. Never quits and only gets stronger. Seasons were longer in the nfl and he seemed the only one to benefit if he could maintain it. that is still to be determined as he has had a tendency to fade near the end so far, in the nfll at least.

Everone else seemed like I was asking will he make it in the nbfl?

With peterson I found myself asking: Will he only get better when he gets to the nfl?

I think while his fading at the end thing may pass--he difinately did get "better" stat wise in the nfl. He could play 5 quarters if needed. and everyone would be drained but him.

ahhh.... to be young and great.

If I were to cast a vote it would go to Tim Tebow simply because he epitomizes what every coach wants in a football player on and off the field. However since his college playing days are not complete I'll chose another.

We always hear about how great of a game Vince Young had against USC, but IMO one head to head game does not dictate the better player. Reggie Bush would get my vote for being the most celebrated player to come along in college football this decade. Have we all forgotten, it wasn't even close in the Heisman voting. Reggie received 784 1st place votes to Young's 79 1st place votes.

Granted Reggie's has not lived up to his hype as a New Orleans Saints, but then again could anyone?

Reggie was the first to come to mind for me. I remember being flat-out amazed every time I watched dude play.

Vince wasnt a 1 game wonder, dude was a beast that whole season. The win at Ohio St, before they became Choke artists like my Beloved Sooners, was special as well. Hell it actually started the season before in the bowl game vs Michigan where the legend began.

Who that season did SC beat that turned out to be worth a crap. Cal? didnt they lose to Texas Tech in the bowl? Or was that the year before? And what would have happened if they actually threw a flag on the bush push, and they lost that game. Had that been anyone but SC at that time, no way they get no flag there at Notre Dame.

A possible dark horse for the top 5/10 is David Greene, QB UGA. Here is why.

-the winningest qb in in NCAA Division 1 history with 42 wins

- SEC's all time leader in yards gained with over 11,000.

- Won 3 division titles and an SEC title

-holds the record in the SEC of 214 pass attempts with no int's

- 2002 QB rating of 137.26

- 2003 QB rating of 128.47

- 2004 QB rating of 148.38

Pretty impressive.
