Apologies to Raiders fans but...

"I really thought I got some things done out there," (JaMarcus) Russell said. "Whatever it takes for us to win, I guess I must play better."

There are a lot of bad teams this year, but man - how much worse can it get in Oakland? Russell has played i four games and has completed 43 of 108 (40%) for 506 yards, 1 TD and four interceptions and one lost fumble. I'm not sure I can think of any NFL quality QB who has averaged 125 yards per game and wasn't yanked after a couple of games. At least Michael Vick also ran. Russell does nothing.

They went to HOU where even your dog could run for over 200 yards and ended up with just 31 rushing yards. They play in NY against the Giants next week. Yikes.

HC Tom Cable has to meet with Goodell this week about his role in breaking the jaw of another coach.

After the game, Darrius Heyward-Bey was asked about Russell was doing in the huddle. He said this:

"He seemed calm. He seemed like JaMarcus always (is): poise in the huddle, calling plays and running this offense the way it needs to be run."

Poise? This is how the offense is supposed to be run?

"You can talk about the Matt Ryans and people like that who get it right away but, by and large, at that position it does take a little more time," Cable said. "Obviously, more time than any coach wants it to take, but you have to live with some of those growing pains."

It's been three years. How long do the Raiders have to suffer with Russell? I do not claim to be a QB guru but hey - I am comfortable saying this guy will never, ever "get it".

Sorry Raiders fans you deserve bettter and it is just hard to watch and sad to project each week. It just dumbfounds me.

Agreed DMD.....Raiders fans do deserve better. I don't even think he's even good enough to be a backup on any of the 32 teams. Which is to say, ANY backup QB in the NFL would have beaten him out for the starting job. And let's face it.....Kyle Boller sucked eggs yesterday.....and he'd beat him out. :D

It's easy to say the loss of Chaz Schillens was a major blow to Russell's numbers. But still.....a decent QB can complete better than 35-40%..no matter WHO he throws to.

And let's just say this.....Chaz must be SUPER good if he can make Russell look halfway decent.

Unfortunately, you Raiders fans are going to have to wait until the torch is passed in Davis land. He still wants absolute control and I honestly think he thinks he winning games.......as he falls a sleep the first 5 minute sof the game in his luxary box

Wow......

Think they'll trade out of the #1 spot in 2010?

I doubt anyone ever can trade out of #1 pick again, unless the best QB ever to come out of college is available.

It's just not worth it for that kind of money.

If the NFL doesn't go to a slotted rooking cap, I will bet that you will see some franchises skip their picks on a regular basis to drop back a few spots until "the guy they want/need anyway" is available at a better price.

Al Davis - the only guy Mike Brown can stand next to and not be the (only) one ridiculed.

I also believe she meant that they already traded away their 2011 first-round pick.

Mike Mayock is a guy whose opinion I trust probably more than anyone on TV and he said he would not have drafted Russell because the kid just didn't seem to love football or have the commitment to succeed. Recently on one of the shows I heard that he's usually one of the last to arrive and first to leave for practices and meetings. That's pretty much all I need to know about the kid. A competent coach would have yanked him by now but obviously the senile old coot upstairs wants him in there, so that's what the team and their fans are stuck with. Releasing Garcia -- now there was another really brilliant move too. Jeepers, what a disaster.

And yet, they released Garcia, a man who LOVES the game and would have at least given them a better chance to stay in games. The Raiders are a joke of an orginization anymore. They used to rival many of the greats but now are the colostomy bag on the NFL.

I'll sign for 1/2 of what Russell makes and QB for the Raiders. I can stink up the joint just as bad as he can but at least the Raiders will have more money to spend on quality players. :D

 No way can you stink as much as Russell. Why is he still on my taxi squad? :D

I thought I read that Garcia asked to be released. Probably because he was the best QB in camp but wasn't going to be given the starting QB spot.

To be fair, with his lengthy holdout, Russell's 1st year in the NFL career was pretty much a complete bust of year, so to my mind, it doesn't really count as a year of NFL QB'ing experience. Regardless of that hair splitting, I am in 100% agreement with everything you've said.
