Roddy White

I have a chance to trade for Roddy White and am not sure what to think of him at this point of the season. I won't give any details of my trade because I don't want this to be disguised as a question for the advice forum. What I would like to know is what's been going on with him this season? Is he someone to buy low? Are there signs of things turning around? I haven't watched to many ATL games, so I could use the help of those who drafted him. Thanks!

He has not been his usual steady self this season. Definately disheartening but I have faith that this particular high draft pick will be a great playoff guy. I'm benching him this week in place if Glenn Coffee. I will start him again his next home game. I bet the guy in your league who has him is nervous though.

I hope this sentiment continues regarding White. Makes him easier to trade for. He is averaging just under 9 targets a game which puts him I think 11th for WR targets in the league. The one reason he is not scoring as well as hoped through 3 games has to do with two things.

1) Other players are getting the passing looks in the redzone. With the addition of Gonzalez, that's to be expected.

2) The Ryan to White deep ball hasn't clicked yet. The Falcons offense is needs to keep throwing that deep ball to keep defenses honest so White will continue to get some bombs thrown his way. Only a matter of time before he catches one for a big TD and all of this talk goes away.

This is what I've been banking on... but I confess I'm a little worried. I've watched every minute of the Falcons games to date, and Roddy is getting LOTS of looks still. He's had a couple bombs where he was running free and Ryan just missed him, otherwise he'd have 2 more td's of 50+ length already, so I'm hoping it's just a matter of time. Regardless, I drafted him to be an every week no brainer start, and right now I'm wavering about sitting him but I fear missing that 'explosion' game which I think is coming...

Atlanta has three primary players that need to be covered, play in and play out. So far, teams have been shutting down White and Turner but leaving Gonzo. Many teams will feel it better to stop Gonzo, giving more opportunity to White and Turner so they won't see what they saw last year, but they will have some steller games. Watch for the teams that are good defensively against the TE. Those team will opt to cover Gonzo.

It will happen this week since I am playing against him.

I had Roddy in 3 leagues last year, only 1 this year. He started kinda slow last year as well. First 4 weeks last season he put up 5, 6, 22 and 9 FF pts. After that it was double digits a week for most of the rest of the season. So hopefully he takes off this week.

The Falcons have had issues with pass protection this year as well. Ryan hasn't always had the time he needs to find Roddy down field. White was recently traded for relative peanuts in my money league. I think White comes on soon and justifies his top 10 WR status.

My thoughts are that he's on the bench in the two leagues I have him in until I see something. I don't know how many leagues award bonus points for "targets" buy mine sure don't.
