Scorcher
An owner in one of my leagues didn't set his line up this week. He has done this in the past. He had Hester and Gates on bye which he left blank. His active RB's were M Bush and Clifton Smith. He had T Choice , M Turner and Josh Morgan on his bench. He would have won had he played any one of his benched players. He was 1 and 3 going in to this game. As a result one team that doesn't deserve to be is 4-1. Another team that is and deserves to be 4-1,would have been the only 4-1 team but is now sharing that record with a team that doesn't deserve to be there. This is a head to head league, not much money involved, but it's the principal. I feel like anybody in a league deserves to play against other managers that show up every week instead of when they have a winning record. It did not affect me as I am 5-0.It just looks like he purposely tried to lose. Edited October 13, 2009 by Scorcher

Don't put up with this, everyone deserves to have fair competition week in and week out.

Phat Rugby
We have a rule that if a player is started while on a bye, the commish automatically will play the best available option on his bench based on CBS projected stats for the week. If no players qualify, the player with the lowest total is dropped and the best available WW players is inserted. The owner is put on notice. If it happens again, he's done. However, you are allowed to leave a player in your starting lineup with notification to the commish in advance (you have a kicker and do not want to drop a player for a bye week and take a 0). Never had an issue since the rule was announced. Edited October 13, 2009 by Phat Rugby
Scorcher
Have to let it stand, but don't invite him back. I knew we had to let it stand. To be fair I posted on the league board and asked if he was okay and why didn't he set his line up? I was a little suspect because he has done it in previous years. I posted yesterday and have yet to hear from him. The legitimate 4-1 owner is new this year and was wondering the same thing as I was. The guy that didn't set the line up is my son's brother in law. I 've let it go before but this time I intend to hold him accountable to the league.

If it is, then you get a goose egg for the week. Can I have my transfat, cigaretts, hooka, and bud lite back now???? id-10-t....what a moron

Turf Smurf
Point is, you should sit back and enjoy playing the game. You're a dick for trying to control other folks. jmo

Chloroform Rx
Lol at Clifton Smith. Funny cause I'm a huge Fresno State fan, otherwise it wouldn't have caught my eye, but damn, what on earth would posess someone to pick him up. Please tell me he wasn't drafted.. cdrudge
Did he forget or did he just not care? If it's the former, he gets his final warning. If it's the latter, kick him and find someone who does care. In either case I think the score has to stand.
Scorcher
Point is, you should sit back and enjoy playing the game. You're a dick for trying to control other folks. jmo Thank you so much for your well thought out and aptly put response. I don't know what means more to me; your wisdom or your warmth. I really mean it from the heart of my bottom. In any competition the point is for people to compete to the best of their ability. When someone remains in the game but gives up or as in FFL, doesn't do the basics, (set a line up) they manipulate the outcome of the league and devalue the efforts of the other serious competitors. The fun comes from winning against competitors who really try. When some one joins any competition he/she is making an unwritten commitment to compete according to the rules of the game and hopefully to the best of their ability. In Major sports when some one purposely slacks off they are held extremely accountable and must adhere to any subsequent ramifications. Shouldn't this apply at any level of competition? Ralph Furley
If he has been known to do this in the past, the hammer should have been dropped last time That's a tough situation, but I think the commish (not sure if thats you) needs to check the linups on Sunday and make the adjustments for the owner imo. i_am_the_swammi
This is a head to head league, not much money involved, but it's the principal. When some one joins any competition he/she is making an unwritten commitment to compete according to the rules of the game and hopefully to the best of their ability. Seems your principals and his prinicpals are very different...which can happen in any game. Which is why most games have rules, so personal "principals" are not questioned. What are the rules of your game? hard to imagine that, in today's age of fantasy football, a league doesn't have a rule in place regarding insufficient lineups? If this has been an issue in the past, I'd be pissed at the owner that forgot, and equally pissed at the Commish for not having a rule which addresses the issue. If no rule exists, you have no choice but to accept the outcome of the tainted game.
