Henry Muto
Thomas, Bell to split carries going forward? Pierre Thomas - RB - NO - Oct. 13 - 2:42 p.m. ET With Mike Bell now healthy, beat writer Jeff Duncan expects him to start splitting carries with Pierre Thomas. We'll see. Duncan has been in Bell's corner since camp, but Thomas has a clear edge in talent and versatility. Thomas is averaging 6.4 yards per attempt while carrying the offense against the Bills and Jets. Coach Sean Payton has vaguely implied that Thomas could wear down easily, so it makes sense for the Saints to use the more physical Bell in some short-yardage situations. If this happens someone in New Orleans needs to be fired

Jackass
PT > Bell As a Thomas owner, I'm not too concerned. I don't know. I'm not a PT owner (or Bell owner) but if i were, i'd be a tad concerned.
kickureface
PT > Bell As a Thomas owner, I'm not too concerned. its not always the best player who runs away with the touches though. some coaches are paid to play the worst player. That's only Oakland. Nearly all coaches are paid to win and when they don't, see yah, bye, bye!
Belushi
PT has been one of the best RBs in the NFL over the last season. Mike Bell was a free agent that couldn't hang on with the Texans. And you think one of the best offensive coaches in the game is going to split carries between the two? Yeah, sure.
rajncajn
I'd expect something like when the Saints had Deuce, Reggie & Stecker. If PT gets hurt again then Bell steps into his role, if Bush gets hurt then both PT & Bell get an increased workload.

Less ground work for Bush but still goal line and 50% touches to PT.

rajncajn
Thanks for your opinion, but I don't remember asking for it. Last I looked this thread had nothing to do with Reggie Bush, Mario Williams or how they compare as draft picks. Thanks for your opinion on the matter, but I don't remember anybody asking for it either. At least I offered something of substance to the thread that was actually on topic. Thanks for your opinion on the matter, but I don't remember anybody asking for it either. At least I offered something of substance to the thread that was actually on topic. Last I looked, it was Henry Muto who threw it out there looking for people's input. As this post is referring to the Saints backfield, Bush is a part of it. I was making a statement that is relevant to the Saints backfield. Your initial post was intended to be humorous, not at all relating to the topic. Second of all, I don't recall seeing anywhere in the "Terms and Conditions" that I must seek "rajncajn's" permission to post a comment on a thread. So, thank again for playing - but try harder next time.

Big F'n Dave
I'm gonna attempt to avoid the urine spray from this pissing contest and inform you guys that: Yes, Mike Bell is gonna get carries. And it's gonna be PT's carries, not Reggie's. Bell and PT have similar running styles. Reggie obviously plays a little different role. And I don't care what Bell did or didn't do with the Texans, he's playing well for the Saints. Payton will keep both guys fresh by rotating them. Sucks for FF, but I love it as a Saints fan. ROYALWITCHEESE
We hear this crap from coaches every week about how this guy needs more carries and we want to keep so and so fresh. But when game time comes and it's time to put up or get fired, the most talented guy is in there--because he gives you the best chance to win. And PT is by far the more talented guy. I have no doubt that Bell will see a handful of carries, but remember he is returning from an MCL sprain of his own and is likely to be eased back into action. Any talk of anything close to a 50-50 share is lunacy! You play to win the games, you don't play just to play it.
