Trades that SHOULD happen but wont..

I was just watching Sportscenter and Adam Schefter (sp?) was talking about trades that SHOULD be made - but wont be. Very interesting, and they all would make sense. I suppose this is more fantasy than what will happen.

Just curious on the thought process here. I think every one of them make perfect sense - but teams really don't trade in the NFL as the deadline approaches.

#1 - San Diego trades Shawne Merriman to New England for a 2nd round pick.

#2 - Cleveland trades Brady Quinn to Carolina for a "conditional" 4th round pick.

#3 - KC trades Dwayne Bowe to Baltimore for a 2nd and 5th round pick.

#4 - Buffalo trades Terrell Owens to the Bears for a "conditional" 4th round pick.

#5 - Panthers trade Julius Peppers to San Fransisco for a 1st round pick.

The one I like the most is #3. Baltimore is still pretty desperate for a solid young WR to develop with Flacco. This would be a deadly combo for several years to come.

For the most part, those don't make any sense.

1. SD still considers itself a playoff team, and they may have to face NE in the playoffs. Why would you trade to a contender? It would be different if they were rebuilding, but they're not.

2. If Cleveland trades Quinn, what do they have at QB for the future? Anderson is owed lots of money but isn't the answer, and they just spent a high pick on Quinn. It would mean they'd have to spend another high pick at QB. I don't see them giving up on him yet.

3. Bowe is one of the bright spots on a team that is rebuilding, and is young. Why would they trade him?

4. TO should probably be moved, so I agree with this one.

5. Probably makes sense for both teams.

TO in Chicago? :D

He's done - the Bears passing game is beginning to bear fruit with Knox, Hester and, when he gets fully assimilated, Olsen. The Bears don't need a has been cancer hanging out at Soldier Field, thank you very much.

Not only that, Denver already has all our picks for the next four years.

No but it would make us Packer fans pretty happy. :D

In Cleveland I think Mangini likes Ratliff as a back up. Trading Quinn for a 4th seems cheap.

As someone who has really disliked T.O. over the years, seeing what is happening in Buffalo and his various outbursts lately (which are getting fewer and fewer headlines because well, it's Buffalo) is hilarious. He may as well be playing in Canada. I hope he ends his career up there in obscurity, talk about poetic justice. Won't happen though.

I'd like to see the Rams trade SJax for, well, the whole New orleans offense. Hey, when Ditka was there they traded the whole draft for one guy, right? It could happen. Right?

TO has not been good, but neither has the front office, the coach, the QB, or the offensive line. But playing here is not to play "in obscurity." Buffalo remains a hell of an NFL town, with full fan support, and one of the best AFL success stories in league history. The franchise just needs to blow up and start anew. And FWIW, TO has pretty much been a model citizen, donating a great deal of time and money to local food pantries.
