detlef
How long ago was everyone saying that this guy basically represented everything wrong with sports? Dude sounded about as nice as they come (and reasonably articulate) and wants to go to school to be an osteopath after football. I mean, what a freaking loser. Link He always has been nice (flaky and selfish too) but never cruel or a thug. When he abandoned his team they wouldn't have been hurt as much had he announced it before the draft. He probably never thought about that timing. Favre doesn't seem to care about it much either. Before coming back the last time he was in intense therapy a few months and was determined to change his legacy. He had a mental problem he dealt with. He should be a good example for the NFL. Link I don't remember everyone saying that he represented everything wrong with sports (i'm not sure why people would say that but maybe my memory's off ) He liked to smoke the reefer and he walked out on his team. But he's certainly turned things in the right direction. The interviews i've seen, i would give him credit for being more than reasonably articulate - he seems like a very bright guy. kingfish247
Always liked Ricky Williams. I understand the Dolphins wanted pay back but despite all that Ricky remained with the team. And despite quite a bit of turnover with the coaching staff, management, and team ownership... all of them seemed to want Ricky on the team. He could have easily been shipped off for a few picks. I think that says something about Williams as a player, and a man. Edited October 16, 2009 by kingfish247

keggerz
RIcky really debacled the Dolphins a few years ago.
WaterMan
It didn't matter what Ricky did because they haven't had a QB since Marino.
Smackdown
Dave Wannstadt really debacled the Dolphins a few years ago. Fixed Wannstache set ths team back 5 years - they just started coming out of it last year. Let's not forget that Wannstadt treated Ricky like a rented mule. At the time he had the most rushing attempts for an NFL back over a 2 year period in the history of the NFL. A BIG reason (along with others) that Ricky bolted. As a Dolphin fan, I forgave him a long time ago. A pleasure to watch at his age. SO glad they signed him to an extension that will keep him a Dolphin through the 2010 season. He's quite happy right now being a 1A to Ronnie Brown - I doubt he'd play if he was the featured back like he was in the past. He's recently gotten married and also just opened up his own restaurant on Miami beach. I read something a few weeks ago that compared Ricky to Barry Sanders. A world of talent but a player that played for a paycheck and not the love of the game. Imagine if they were motivated by both? A perfect compliment to Ronnie Brown to make up the best backfield in the NFL IMO. My favorite Ricky Williams quite . . . bpwallace49
Seemed like a weird, but nice guy. i just hated how he walked out on his team the day before training camp. That was pretty self centered and selfish. Other than that, no beef woth the guy.
Clubfoothead
My only beef with him was that he wanted his pot and his NFL career, to the detriment to his teammates. In his defense, he was just a kid. He's never wanted his talent as a football player to define who he is. I don't know him but he sounds like a person searching for more out of life than just what he does to pay the bills. Other than how he treated his fellow Dolphins years ago, I've always held him in the higest regard. I look forward to buring one with him when he's done. Bigb2345
I have burned one with him and he is a great guy.
detlef
As long as teams have no troubles cutting guys once their utility has diminished, I have no trouble with a guy stepping away, regardless of the timing when he feels he has to. Would it have been better for him to not to have left that season and just gone through the motions? Your heads either in it or it isn't.
