I'm also excited about this game. I was a big fan of KOTOR 1 and 2.

Going back to their old days with black isle, there is no better old school RPG series than Baulder's gate and Baulder's gate 2

Baldurs 2 was better than 1 and I feel Torment was better than both (which take place in Planescape rather than FR).  I was kind of disapponted with the new engine for the D&D games (NWK1 and NWK2).  I miss the old SSI games.

KotOR 1 was good and 2 was even better.

The Wench and I just finished Mass Effect which was the bomb.  We are eagerly awaiting this game as well as Mass Effect 2.

I just bought Mass Effect off of ebay because I heard it was uber pimp.  I never played Planescape and kind of kick my self for not and the NWN's games were okay but lacked for me.  Now....the old school gold box series were the shizzle.

If you can still get ahold of it - Planescape is still worth a play.  You can switch classes pretty much whenever (start on theif, move to wizard, little more thief, fighter - etc) and can get up to 40 in each.  Its a compelling story too.

I  Dark Alliance.

What the heck happened to the development of the sequel? You would think with Diablo's success, some other developer would be hot on that property and engine.

I've only had about an hour of time to play, but so far, so good.  Definitely has a Baldur's gate feel, with a movable camera like Neverwinter Nights.  Hopefully I can get a few hours in tonight.

Installing the actual game was a piece of cake, but redeeming the codes for the DLC was a pain.  You have to get a profile setup on the Bioware Social Network in order to redeem the codes.  There were constant timeouts.  Took me half an hour to get through that nightmare.  However, once setup, I was able to quickly redeem the codes and get up and running.

In-freaking-sane game.  Blows any other Bioware/RPG game out of the water IMO [so far anyways].  I give it two  :D

the Wench and I picked it up on Saturday evening and already have like 11 hours of playing time in.  Good, good stuff so far.  I love the Grey Warden that travels with you.

Its funny - we stipped down the two other two grey warden candidates and the party members that join you for clearing out the tower at the beginning of the game (once we realized that wouldn't be sticking with us)  to make some extra coin

Do you see any downside to stealing yet?  Also - any rhyme or reason to when the dog can find things?  I put him aside for the thief, but am thinking of pulling him out here and there to see whatall he can dig up.

Make sure you redeem that Fury of Shale golem dude and the blood armor from the inserts inside of the game cover.  Well worth it.

Dutchess, what story did you start out with?  Elf, Dwarf, Human?

I highly recommend Elf

I would have thought you would take the Dwarf all the way.

the Wench likes to be in control, but she doesn't have the sharpest gaming reflexes, so we went with the tank (dwarven fighter)

If you are using the PC version, the space bar is your friend......

360, but the left trigger works as a pause as well.

I think she would have been solid with something other than a fighter - but I decided to keep it simple for her and didn't realize until we were a few hours into it that she'd be fine with something a liittle more dynamic.  She tends to roll with more stratagy games and tactics games - or co-op games where I pick up a little of the slack.

I debating between PC and 360 but in the end, I hate playing Mass Effect on the 360 because of all the radio menus.

ETA - So far, this is [IMHO] the best RPG since BGII.

Last time I touched the 360 was well over a year and a half ago and that was playing Mass Effect which was bad ass. I may have to dust it off to play this one.
