Is a tie closer to a win or a loss

In soccer, a tie is closer to a loss.

Most point systems consider: 3pts for win, 1pt for tie.

In American football a tie is exactly equal to half a win.

And when you say 'most systems' ... the only two I am aware of are soccer and hockey ... everybody else I can think of considers a tie as a half win/half loss.

And not in hockey anymore. They go to overtime and/or shootouts to break the tie now.

odd question, as I'm not sure why the answer matters. That said, I say it's closer to a loss simply because you didn't accomplish what you set out to do (i.e., you failed to win).

This doesn't belong here, but I am seeing it as big government further and further infringing upon our rights and they use the line that they need to protect our safety as justification to do so. Both major parties are guilty of this though they use different means to do so.
