So I guess FL gets a pass

ahh college football - Tenn gives the #1 team all they can handle and really should have won that game, yet they lose at home to UCLA, who is looking more and more like a bottom feeder in the Pac 10.

As talented as SEC defenses "seem" to be is as equally piss poor the offenses are. It is amazing to me watching these vanilla, boring offenses, how far behind the SEC is offensively.

from what I have seen the SEC is down this year, I really wasn't impressed by Tenn or Bama, or FLA last week vs Ark.

that being said, I have no clue who the best team in college football is right now, and it looks like Bama or FLA by default.

Not so much doubting this statement, but who's up?

As I said last week, there isn't a super great team this year (not yet anyway). There isn't a 95' Nebraska or an 04' USC, or 05' Texas. Florida, Alabama, and Texas are all fantastic squads. But as I said before, if one of them slipped up, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked. They all have flaws and weaknesses. My Hawkeyes? Same thing. Lots of flaws, lots of weaknesses. I'm just enjoying the ride.

DUKE!!!!!!!! 2 consecutive ACC wins for the first time since 94, BABY!!!

As a UNC fan, I'm obviously predisposed to hating them but it's hard not to pull for the football team since they've been down for so long and are finally beating teams.

exactly- I don't think any conference is necessarily UP. I think the SEC and Pac 10 are clearly the 2 best conferences overall, and in the past the SEC has been the best by quite a bit - but I am just not as impressed this year with the SEC.........

I really don't think any team has been impressive enough to separate themselves thus far.

We still have time for teams to make a statement, and Bama and FLA are in the drivers seat but there does not seem to be much separation from 1-15 in the BCS, any one of those teams could do some damage

going to be an interesting next month or so

II've watched all 3 play this year ......... Cincinatti, TCU and Boise State could all 3 beat Florida and Alabama. Unfortunately, we'll never get to see it. After watching TCU last week I think that they may be the best team in college football right now.

He didn't say would, he said could. That's the whole thing. It is only those who are in favor of just plucking 2 teams out of the mix and declaring them the two worthy of a shot that should be charged with being able to determine with some degree of certainty who would beat who despite a poor sample of data.

And that's exactly what the BCS does, rather than having a quarterfinal and semifinal round, they have virtual quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Where guys and computers decide who would beat whom and narrow it down to the "best" two. How freaking lame.

The more you include, the less guess work there is. You don't need to speculate as much. TCU, by virtue of going undefeated and two solid road wins has shown that they could beat anyone in the country. If you take 8 teams to a playoff, they'd be one of those 8 and would have a chance to show it.

Of course, what I want to see is have at least 2 of UT, Bama, and UF lose once and watch the BCS choose a 1 loss prestige team over an undefeated Cinci team, a team who is in one of the precious freaking conferences that this whole thing is set up to pay. That would be yet another steaming pile of crap that this useless system served up to it's customers. I mean, that would be another first. They can hose the Utahs and TCUs of the world by saying they don't play in a BCS conference, but to shun an undefeated team in one of the allegedly elite conferences (by their definition, not mine) in favor of a one-loss team from another? That would be outstanding.

Wins on the road at Clemson, and BYU are good. The rest of the schedule, not so much. That said, I wouldn't exactly be excited to play them thinking it was an easy win if I was any of the 5A schools as you call them. We saw what happened to Alabama last year. What conference do they play in again?

Pretty sure they play in the same conference as the one who has beat down your conference champions in BCS NC title games. :D

That's right SECond to None!

An embarassing loss to a "4A" school nonetheless, in the SEC's backyard no less.

Have to admit, I kind of liked that loss. Helps keep those oldtime BAMA fans humble.

I'm getting the feeling that Alabama fans are already nervous about the possibility of breaking the SEC undefeated record in BCS NC competition.
