Skilly
http://30for30.espn.com/ Did anyone check out this series yet? Last Tuesday they showed "Small potatoes: Who Killed the USFL?" Excellent show. I'm not sure if they are rebroadcasting it, but if they are it's worth a look. Interviews with Donald Trump, Burt Reynolds (who was a general partner of the Tampa Bay Bandits), Hershall Walker, Jim Kelly, Steve Young, Doug Flutie, and others. I remember watching the games and being thoroughly entertained. I even attended the first USFL championship in Denver, CO which matched the Michigan Panthers (qb'd by Bobby Hebert) and the Philadelphia Stars. I loved the fun, freewheeling endzone celebrations. Upcoming episodes will feature stories on Ali / Holmes fight in 1980, Len Bias, Jordan, and even one on OJ. Good stuff.
justin
I've really enjoyed watching this series and got about halfway through the USFL documentary yesterday. The Baltimore Colts documentary by Levinson was extra special for me since I grew up in Bmore and more specifically during the years when the city didn't have a home team. The Gretzky episode was also pretty moving as it focused on the Edmonton fans and how they dealt with his trade and subsequent departure to LA. Plus I really like the director (same guy who did Friday Night Lights (TV show)). Good stuff.
