aruss
Anyone have the latest on Westbrook's status? Sounds like they will be splitting carries.
irish
Both guys will be playing and getting touches but I read today that Reid said something like, He’ll continue to rotate the 2 RBs, and that he'll just see how Westy does. He also said that he's not going to just throw Westy in for the whole game because LeSean McCoy has done a nice job when he’s been called on and that that gives him and their team some flexibility. Sounds to me like Westy will get touches (as a CoP) but that McCoy is becoming RB1 to Westy being either RB1A or RB2 altogether. I feel this is the case, as I read a week or so ago that this may be Westy's last year in Philly and therefore, that would leave McCoy to be the new Westy. ETA: The source- http://www.delawareonline.com/article/2009...versatile-Babin Injury update Eagles coach Andy Reid said wide receiver Kevin Curtis and linebacker Akeem Jordan will miss Sunday's game with injuries. ... Tackle Jason Peters is questionable with an ankle sprain and did not practice Friday, Reid said. "If he could have practiced, we would have had him out there," Reid said. "He's still tender, so he didn't practice today." ... Running back Brian Westbrook is expected to return after sitting out two games with a concussion. "He'll continue to rotate, and we'll just see how he does," Reid said. "I'm not going to just throw him in for the whole game. LeSean McCoy has done a nice job when he's been called on, so that gives us some flexibility." Edited November 15, 2009 by irish
abishagenaden
What do you think happens next year with the two of them, irish? Or too early to tell?
Samson
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4475855 Due to the way the reworked his deal, it would seem like the cap hit for releasing him at the end of this season would be significant. I see Westbrook remaining and splitting time with the heir apparent next year. Edited November 15, 2009 by Samson
irish
I just read this this morning. 11/15/2009 10:40 AM THE NEWS Brian Westbrook will be involved in 12-15 plays this afternoon at San Diego, according to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio. Now he says plays, not touches. So if I have both players I'd go with McCoy or another more definitive option. Westy could go in and get dinged up and be done for the game, throwing up a goose egg for his owners.
irish
What do you think happens next year with the two of them, irish? Or too early to tell? As Samson said, per the cap hit, Westy could stay with the team but I do believe that he's going to be phased out and that McCoy becomes the main man and new Westy in that offense. BillyBalata
Here's my deal with starting McCoy. Few weeks ago Eagles go to the Raiders. One of the worst defenses against the run in the league. Every teams rbs do well against the Raiders. Hell, Larry f'n Johnson got like 80 yards against, most of the time the secondary rb will have a decent game against the raiders. So even tho Westy was playing, I figured good matchup to start McCoy as well. Problem is, Andy f'n Reid goes and runs a whopping 14 times that game and throws 44 some times. Brilliant. Point is, don't trust andy reid, getting a split of 14 carries in a game ain't gonna add up to much.

Valid point and another game when Westy was out Weaver got a bunch of touches and was productive with them. I just think McCoy is playing well and Reid will get him the ball both rushing and receiving.
