fpuma
I just read this on Rotoworld. I just traded away Brown and D Jackson for Fitz and Moreno on Thursday.
Jackass
When certain players get hurt (i.e Ronnie Brown), you really have to expect the worst so this doesn't surprise me at all.

STL Fan
So does anybody expect Ricky to hold up? Will he start sharing carries with the kid right away?
kpholmes
I hate to see any player get injured, especially one who plays such a crucial role in such a fun system to watch... ...But this is good news for Ricky owners. Especially if he's your RB3 in the midst of a playoff run... Edited November 18, 2009 by kpholmes
Fatman
I know you think people go out of there way to annoy you, but I'm not doing that here... PFT sucks donkey balls and this is a perfect example of the BS. With all due respect (not poking you), stuff like this should NOT get posted as there's no value in it. PFT, you suck. Couldn't disagree more...there's a very real reason that NBC Sports partnered with PFT in the past year...
kpholmes
They might also do a lot of quality reporting, but since they also release a lot of baseless info, they're credibility must come under fire. No, I'm not going to bother bumping all threads here where others or myself called them out. Just remember when they say something that turns out to be false, then put a little mark in your brain. In no time, you'll start questioning them too. Unless you work for them, in which case, you should reveal that bias. I think they bring a lot of credibility to the table, Florio just gives a little too much personal opinion and commentary. He gets a lot of heat for it in the comments though. Phrases like: Per a league source, the current thinking is that Brown will not be able to play again this year. Of course, this could change based upon the advice of the specialist that Brown eventually sees and the success of rehab efforts. Give me information while clearly labeling it as speculative. Is it true? Who knows. But its not being presented as fact.
Pope Flick
I've never liked PFT. They throw so much chit some of it is bound to stick. If you look into their archives (assuming they keep any) they certainly staked a claim that Brady QUinn was going to be ruled ineligible his entire Sr year at ND because Weis supposedly put him in touch with an agent. NOTHING ever came of it, but they at that time had a "solid source." I personally think they make up far more than they scoop and report more or less on what everyone else knows. This drove up their numbers, because of their TMZ liek approach to news and hence they got picked up. I thad nothing to do with the quality of their reporting, but the quantity of their hits. Unfortunately, I think this sums up way too much of the "media" these days. Far too much speculation and/or conjecture out there being passed as fact by people citing "anonymous team sources" or something similar. The days of people waiting til they actually had the real facts have long since been passed up by a hoard of hacks who are only concerned with putting something out there in hopes they are right so they can say they scooped the story. Blogs/Twitter/etc have all made it far too easy for people to get their stuff out there without being first screened by an editor or some other voice of reason. IMO, we dont hold those who are repeatedly publishing garbage accountable enough. Its one thing if they come right out and admit its their opinion, but it seems many of these "breaking stories" are nothing more than guesses being passed as factual info from a reliable source. These hacks need to start having their feet held to the fire more often when they are way off-base. In the meantime, I am very skeptical of most "info" that comes via someone citing a "source speaking on the condition of anonymity" or similar. BeeR
Not counting on anything, but this is exactly why I avoided Brown like the plague and picked up Wms late. They best keep him out just to be sure he's OK
montster
back on topic -- it would have to be assumed that brown will miss at least two games, right? reason i ask is i can put brown on IR, but he must remain there for two games. i'd like to pick up another RB, but i don't want to drop any of my backups. the best way to free up space is to put brown on IR. i honestly don't believe he'll be back for the buffalo game, but, hey, stranger things have happened. Delicious_bass
CBSSports(citing ESPN) now reporting Brown on IR Ronnie Brown, RB MIANews: ESPN reports that the Dolphins have placed Ronnie Brown on injured reserve, ending his season. Brown suffered a significant foot injury last week against the Buccaneers and it was obviously deemed serious enough that he'll miss the rest of the campaign. Brown rushed for 648 yards, caught for 98 yards and passed for 22 yards with nine total touchdowns one passing). Analysis: Ricky Williams will take his place as the team's starting running back and Lex Hillard will back him up. We also might see more of Pat White running the team's Wildcat formation. Assuming this report is true, owners can drop Brown knowing that he's done for the year. Williams should emerge as a candidate for at least 15 touches per game working behind a good offensive line with Hilliard and White pitching in. The bolded part is what you have to love about Sportsline. Publishing someone else's report and advising their own readers to act on it assuming its true

michaeljordan ca
Any value in Lex Hilliard? other than the obvious "He's the back-up?"
Phazool
Wed, Nov 18 Hilliard is line for an expanded role with the Dolphins, with Ronnie Brown having landed on IR. Recommendation: From a fantasy perspective, Ricky Williams stands to gain the most from Brown's injury, but Hilliard is now someone to consider as a sleeper pickup, now that he is but one injury away from the top job in a run-friendly offense. In any case, Hilliard stands to see at least some carries going forward.
budlitebrad
I look at PFT, ESPN, and others in the same light. Unless it's coming from Schefter or Glazer, I usually take it with a hugh grain of salt.
