Big John
Greatest Show on Turf* Again! * subject to turf not fookin' sucking so much. * And the the Bears play their home games on grass.
CaP'N GRuNGe
Why is that funny? I think that'd be awesome. Forte is NOT Marshall Faulk, but he most certainly could be 80-85% of Faulk and that would be insane. Cutler has better raw tools and skills than Warner, so if he could get some good coaches, that help him a lot! Greatest Show on Turf* Again! * subject to turf not fookin' sucking so much. So he'd run Forte even less?

51Butkus
Yeah, and lets bring back Buddy Ryan to run the Defense. Then I'd give you two weeks into the regular season before we see a replay of Buddy punching his Offensive Coordinator. Geesh, bringing in Martz would be disastrous. That's what worries me. This franchise is so capable of it. My recall is that Martz consistently put his offenses in 2nd and long, 3rd and long, and made it tough to sustain much of any offensive rhythm. While firing Ron Turner needs to happen NOW, bringing in Martz as a compliment to keeping Lovie would be the Hindenburg!!

I think you are way off base with your assessment. The Bears simply don't have the personnel to run Martz's offense. Hasn't he shown in his last two stents as an OC (Det and SF) that it doesn't work if he doesn't have the right personnel? He had possibly 4 hall of fame offensive players in STL (Faulk, Warner, Bruce & Holt). Warner might not have the arm strength or mobility of Cutler, but those are the only two attributes that Cutler has over Warner. Warner is one of the most accurate QB's in NFL history. He also makes great decisions under duress. Cutler obviously doesn't. The Bears can't block anyone in pass protection. I think bringing in Martz will shorten Cutler's career by about 4 years. DMD
I have problems picturing a spread offense with four wideouts playing on a muddy field with 25 mph winds.
Goopster24
I've been wanting Martz for yearsssss. Bring him, better than what we have.
Furd
Greatest Show on Turf* Again! * subject to turf not fookin' sucking so much. Considering that the Bears have Larry, Curly and Moe playing wideout, I don't think that we'll be seeing it anytime soon.
Capt. Stanky
I did say "raw tools". I really believe that Cutler could easily be a HoF QB, if and only if, he had the right coaches, particularly a great QB coach. I don't know if Jeremy Bates was a great QB coach, but he was good. I don't think that Hester is HoF, but he continues to improve. Isn't this his 3rd season in his *life* as a WR? He came in as a CB, yeah? As I said about Forte, I'd say about the rest of the offensive weapons, they're not Holt/Bruce, but this offense should be producing a lot more and I think this personnel could execute for Martz. just my opinion Gotcha, and my post indicates my opinion on the matter. We will have to agree to disagree.
Belushi
He'd be out in a year. How's he going to run that offence in Chicago in December? It won't matter, because the Bears will be out of the playoffs by then anyway, but the question still has to be asked. As for Cutler being a HOF QB, wow. If that's the case, sign up Vince Young too. Another guy with physical tools who can't read a defence.
electricrelish
The Chicago Sun-Times asked Martz about the rumor, and he said the question was the first he heard of it. Of course that means nothing. Chicago Sun-Times story
rocknrobn26
I don't necessarily know Martz from Fartz, that is could his "O" work her or not? But with our record of BAD OC's (Shoop...Turner..et al) we could prolly do worse. First Lovie has to take the DC hat off and hire someone who can spend full time on it. (It didn't work w/ Wanny (HC & GM if IIRC) It won't work here. Just concentrate on the overall picture and we'll fire you next year! Second, there is no way Da Bears fire Lovie and pay the $10 mil. to do nothing. Thirdly, what was the talk about Charlie Weis? Head coach..."OC"? What's that all about? Lastly, draft some "Oline" people that are worth while. We gave up Columbo, prolly deserved, Gandy..I liked that guy...and grabbed a washed up Pace. Kruetz...I love Ya but RETIRE! You prolly will get in the HoF before Mike Pyle.
BeeR
I have a big problem with that statement. Only that part of it? I have problems picturing a spread offense with four wideouts playing on a muddy field with 25 mph winds. But you're ignoring the talent there! I love this idea too, but only because it'd be funny as hell to watch.
