I contend that once the redskins took the ball away the saints became a defense and the fumble recovery and td were defensive not offensive. how do you guys score that play? in my league they gave me the 2 points for the recovery but zip for the TD. if i get credit for the recovery how can they deny the td point's? are any of you having the same trouble?

I don't see how New Orleans DF can get credit for a DF TD there...and I have the New Orleans DF on my team.

It is a quick that is for sure but that is how it is scored...had this same situation in 2003 with TB DF and McCardell and I had TB DF that year too and they did not get credit for the TD.

Meachem gets a Def fumble recovery though because it was a change of possession and that is why they award the NO DF a turnover but I can see how that could be taken away.

it was changed on ESPN....Meacham gets an offensive TD, but no yards for the run. In IDP leagues Meacham hit a jackpot play: tackle, FF, FR, TD. Yummy. I had the Saints D dressed and no they did not get credit for a TD.

Here's how CBS scores it (which I agree with):

Robert Meachem, WR NO

News: WR Robert Meachem led the Saints in the Week 13 overtime win over the Redskins, catching eight passes for a team-high 142 yards and a score from 53 yards out.

Analysis: Meachem also had another touchdown in the game, but it didn't count for Fantasy purposes: Brees threw an interception to Kareem Moore of the Redskins, and Moore returned it 14 yards before getting stripped by Meachem. Meachem recovered the fumble and returned it 44 yards for a score. However, CBSSports.com rules it as a defensive fumble recovery and thus a defensive touchdown for the Saints DST because technically Meachem was a defender following the change of possession. Thus, it is not considered an offensive fumble recovery even though Meachem is an offensive player by trade. Meachem now has at least one touchdown catch in five straight games and has six total over that span. The Saints play at Atlanta's horrible pass defense in Week 14 and that makes Meachem at least a reliable No. 2 Fantasy play.

Yes, but by the same reasoning, once Meachem took the ball away, Redskins now became defense, so Meachem had to have returned to offense.

Saints D would get pts for fumble recovery because Meachem was still a defensive player at that moment. But the very instant after that, he is back on offense. So what he does from that point on is considered an offensive play.

just a quick correction on my part. From ESPN's point of view, NO D/ST was awarded the TD, but Meacham was as well. Under our rules this should not happen, either the individual or the D gets credit, not both. In leagues where a guy like Harvin is awarded a TD for a kickoff return, it follows that Meacham should get the TD for his 'defensive' work.

Now let us never speak of this topic again!

That would make zero sense, becaue then every DST touchdown would be as you describe above.....the defensive player who intercepts a ball would immediately become an offensive player, since possession changes.

in our league, if the player's quarterback is on the field, its an offensive TD and Meachem gets the touchdown.

we made the rule after the McCardell TD a few years back as noted above. no way it should be a New Orleans defensive TD IMO anyway.

sorry i should have looked below and found the previous post about this. i am a steelers fan and the realization that they suck has finally hit me soi forgive me for not looking. in our league if you have a player returning kicks and he returns a kick for a td he gets credit for that td but the defense also gets credit for the td. that is why i think we should get credit for the td as a defensive td.
