euphy
I'm helping my dad with his league, and the top 2 points guys didn't make the playoffs. Is that fair at all?
tonorator
I'm helping my dad with his league, and the top 2 points guys didn't make the playoffs. Is that fair at all? if you were aware of and agreed to the established rules in your league, then yes, it is fair.
MustOfBeenDrunk
I'm helping my dad with his league, and the top 2 points guys didn't make the playoffs. Is that fair at all? The odds of that happening again in the same league in the next 20 years is 100 to 1 (the top TWO scoring teams not making the playoffs)
kcmast
Pulled last seed with most points (won the tiebreaker). Scored a lot of points early though as I lost RBrown, SSlaton, and ODaniels. Trying to hang on.

bowltr
My wifes team had the most points this season and is out of the playoffs. To top it off she needed to win this week to get in and had the 2nd highest scoring week of the year in the league. Guess who had the highest scoring week of the year........yup her opponent.........yup this week!!! I think I'd smash my skull in if that happened to me. lennykravitz2004
not quite, but I might be the overall #1 seed with the 5th most points scored.
alchico
Unless Breaston scores 44pts tonite I won't make the playoffs in 1 of my BOTH leagues. I'm the leading scorer by over 30 pts and have 170 already this week and fitz still to go which would increase my lead by another 30 or so points. To make matters worse the guy who is going to edge me out is the 2nd highest scorer and he's getting in as a wild card.
Ursa Majoris
I was second highest scorer in one league and didn't make the playoffs with a 6-7 record? Why? I had the highest points against by a hugh margin. Can't do anything about that. Is it fair? Of course - that's part of the game.
buddahj
yes i led the league in points but missed the playoffs.

The Irish Doggy
Well, play FF enough and you'll be in that position sooner or later. It certainly doesn't feel fair to have a rocking awesome team and not play for the championship, but that's the way rules for most head to head leagues go. Its common to see the top points team miss the playoffs assuming 12 team league, and 4 playoff spots. Top 2 teams, not as much. Of course there are all kinds of ways around that happening if it really annoys you. You can change the rules for next year so that a wild card spot is determined by total points instead of H2H record. Or join a total points league instead of H2H leagues. I've been playing FF since the early 80's, and this year was the first time I ever saw the top scoring team miss the playoffs. It happens, but I don't think it's very common at all. I have seen the point champ go down in their first playoff game quite a few times though.

I have seen the point champ go down in their first playoff game quite a few times though. I've been playing since the mid 90's and its happened to me twice. I have seen it happen a couple times more than that. All of the leagues I play in are 12 team leagues with either 6 or 8 playoff spots. Scourge
So are you saying that in the NFL, a team that is 8-8 but scored more points than the teams making the playoffs should make the playoffs over the teams with the better record? Just because in the 8 games they won, they sored 45+ points average in those 8 wins? To me, that is rediculous.. There may be a slew of bad luck, but the best record should go to the post season.. Maybe your team scored 200+ fantasy points a few weeks and just average in the others making you the highest points overall.. Maybe the weeks you lost, you could have won by managing your squad better. Maybe you had some bad luck and had 2nd high points against the team with the most points a couple of weeks during the season.. The bottom line is wins and losses.. NAUgrad
Had the 3rd highest scoring points this year and was close to 2nd. Made it into the playoffs as the last seed in a 12 team league due to tie breakers. 5-9 record is the worst record I've had in a long time. But the upset season has yet to begin. That's why we use total points and then points against as tie-breakers. If you had the highest points against and that's a tie-breaker, then you win. The higher points against means a stronger strength of schedule.
