This week Harvin also got the surprise news that an MRI showed two bulging discs in his neck. And he told me that after every game he’s played in since high school, the back of his neck is sore and swollen, all factors that require more investigation. Harvin said he is scheduled to go to the Mayo Clinic on Tuesday with a Vikings team doctor.

Dec 201:23PM ETComment Email Print Share By Kevin SeifertPITTSBURGH -- As we start pregame festivities here at Heinz Field, I must say I’m completely baffled by the contradictory news we’re getting on Minnesota receiver Percy Harvin.

Harvin is officially listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game at Carolina after a two-week bout with migraine headaches. The NFL Network reports that he will play against the Panthers. But Harvin told NBC Sports that he not only arrived in Charlotte with lingering headaches and drowsiness, but also with news that he has two bulging discs in his neck.

For the latter condition, Harvin has been scheduled to visit the Mayo Clinic next week. Here’s the full story from NBC reporter Andrea Kremer.

Harvin indicated that the disc condition is the result of an old injury. But let’s get this straight. A player still having aftereffects from migraines -- and who also has a neck condition serious enough to warrant a trip to the Mayo Clinic -- is going to play tonight? Something doesn’t add up.

The Vikings aren’t required to submit their inactive list until 90 minutes before the game. We’ll keep you updated.
