ok the only tie breaker I could think of is have like a 3 out of 5 rule. You would add the total points of your qb,rb,wr,bench, and lastly home field advantage. Who ever wins that is the winner? I don't know I am really stumped! Should a championship end in a tie? Any ideas?

With no rule addressing it in advance, I would say it's a tie. You could see if they want to play again in week 17 with a tie breaker chosen. If one doesn't want to I would just make them co-champs.

Week 17 superbowls suck because someteams could be resting players, so don't be surprised if one of them says no way.

Some leagues choose certain bench players to be used as tie breakers: player x is 1st tie breaker, player y is second tie breaker, etc.

One of my leagues using the whole bench except that if someone is on bye, the other team would not count their lowest scoring player (equal number of players for both teams in the tiebreaker). I don't like this method because some teams may draft marginal starters while other teams draft backups for injury prone players.

You could go to digital scoring (I am assuming you dont have it because ties happen so rarely).

for this year you can use total bench score or go with the team who had the best regular season record as the champ.
And asking either team to go with this as a tie breaker will result in whoever the winner would be saying yes, and the loser saying no. This isn't one of those times where a commish just needs to make a decision to the best of his ability. You CAN'T just make up a rule after the championship game and expect either or both teams to accept it.

I see two options: co-champions splitting whaterver winnings there might be, or asking both teams if they would be willing to have a playoff next week with full knowledge that . If either team is not willing to go into a playoff, then you have to just have co-champions. If you do have a playoff, be sure to set some tie breakers such as total bench score, team with the most TDs, most regular season wins, etc for that game.

The tie breaker we use in Dash-4 is simple and rewards a team for doing well during the season. The higher seed wins in the case of the tie--we call it the "home field advantage."

So if a game is between the 2nd seed and the 5th seed, and it ends in a tie, the 2nd seed wins. I like this better than each team picking one player or bench scoring in general to break ties.

Bingo. Either co champs or if both teams agree play it over in week 17 and put in a tie breaker. You cant pick a tie breaker now that the game is over

Agree here.

+1, although I would just call it a tie and be done with it. Week 17 sucks for any FF game. Add up first and second place winnings and divide by two.

Going forward:

Apply decimal scoring, which lowers the possibility of a tie by orders of magnitude

Have a tie breaker e.g. nominated bench player, highest seed wins, etc

Go figure. I agree with you on something.

Doesn't help much for this guy this year, but that's how I'd personally advise going forward. This year, I think you've got co-champs.

I say split the winnings 50/50 but then use week 17 to determine who gets the title of champion. Co-champions are ghey. That's why they invented the BCS.

I actually like this idea...unless both teams agree to play week 17 for all the marbles. Then whoever wins is champ and wins all the money.

This. You CAN'T just arbitrarily decide a new rule to solve this. They either both agree to play a week 17 game or they split the 1 and 2 money down the middle.
