Brandon Marshall

CBS 4 Denver reports that Brandon Marshall suffered a potentially severe pull or strain of his hamstring in Wednesday's practice.

The injury is to Marshall's right leg. The contract-year wideout came up limping at the end of a drill and had to be tended to by Broncos medical staff. He did not return to finish out practice. Marshall's loss would likely be a death blow to the Broncos' hopes of advancing in the playoffs. He is essentially the only pass catcher Josh McDaniels consistently calls plays for.

So, does this somehow make Eddie Royal a solid play? I'm the Superbowl in one (ghey) 12-team league where we play in week 17. I need to start 4 WRs and just lost Carolina's Steve Smith and don't feel too good about starting Reggie Wayne this week since I doubt he'll be on the field much...I could use a waiver wire hero.

Royal isn't practicing and looks to be out as well.

I'm still a fan of yours, but sometimes you're such a douché.

Remember what Rovers said Monday night?

That's kinda harsh but whatever. I tell ya what next year I will make it my new year's resolution to either not talk about my teams or not to come back to the board...haven't figured out which just yet.

Report: Brandon Marshall to play against K.C.

Brandon Marshall - WR - DEN - Dec. 30 - 7:37 p.m. ET

Brandon Marshall is expected to play Sunday against the Chiefs, a Broncos source told NFL Network's Mike Lombardi.

Marshall pulled his hamstring in Wednesday's practice, but the injury clearly isn't serious. He already caught seven balls for 94 yards and a score against K.C. once this season and should be in line for another big game on Sunday. Marshall has 101 catches for 1,120 yards and ten TDs on the year.

If you don't practice, then you don't play.

McDaniels is apparently benching him because he feels Marshall's injury isn't that serious, and he should be playing thru it.

per CBS:

Brandon Marshall, WR DEN

News: Broncos coach Josh McDaniels says he is benching Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall for the team's critical season finale against Kansas City. McDaniels insinuated that Marshall was exaggerating the extent of his hamstring injury and was unaccountable to the team. The Pro Bowl receiver responded by noting McDaniels never played in the NFL and hinting he might be getting called out by his coach because the Broncos' season is unraveling. "There's a number of players that are going to play on Sunday with things that are much more difficult to deal with than what he has," McDaniels said. "We're looking to put the 45 guys on the field on Sunday that want to play together, want to help us try to win and qualify for the playoffs. ... And anybody that showed any indifference to that, we'll play without them."

Analysis: This is a disaster for Fantasy owners as Marshall has destroyed the Chiefs over his last four games (at least seven catches and one touchdown in each game). Jabar Gaffney steps up as a potential replacement for Marshall as might Eddie Royal if he's active (Brandon Stokley also). If you own Marshall, get him out of Week 17 lineups immediately. Also, might just kick off what should be an interesting offseason for Marshall, who is a restricted free agent under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement terms heading into the uncapped season.
