Raiders vs. Gannon

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Rich Gannon won't be offering his help to the Oakland Raiders again any time soon.

A day after the Raiders rebuffed an offer of help from their former quarterback, Gannon said on Sirius NFL Radio on Thursday that "I won't make that call again."

Gannon said on his show Wednesday that he had called team owner Al Davis to offer any help for the organization and struggling young quarterback JaMarcus Russell. The Raiders responded that Gannon was the one who needed help.

Gannon won the 2002 league MVP for the Raiders, leading them to the Super Bowl that season. Oakland has lost at least 11 games in all seven seasons since -- the longest such streak in NFL history.

There's been some kind of feud going on for months there, right? I think Gannon said something less than glowing about the Raiders on tv once, and now he's dead to them.
Yes. Gannon was critical of the organization earlier this year. In doing his job as commentator/analyst for CBS, he said that they "should just blow up the building and start over." They wanted him banned from the training facility as well as the broadcast booth. Link

So the Raiders don't like hearing the truth?

best I've been able to tell, Gannon seems like a decent guy? does this jive with what other's know of him?

Definitely a VERY good guy. Grounded, regular guy attitude who makes himself accessible and approachable to fans.

Met he and his family at church one time, very awesome guy.

Has done nothing but good things for the organization, and is one of my favorite Raiders. Very disappointed to see the organization treat him like this after he offers his help.

That's an employer/ex employer for you. Even if you're saying the truth, they will run you over.
