Shorttynaz
He's gonna fail a third time in the NFL. ONLY reason he made the switch is he wanted out of USC before he was forced out. SH!T is gonna hit the fan there and I think it's holarious that Lane Kiffin stepped right into it..

kpholmes
Now he can sign Reggie Bush and Lendale White!!!! There's a good amount of Pac-10 Players already on that squad that he knows a good deal about; Tatupu, Forsett, Mebane, Unger, Houshmandzadeh, Lawrence Jackson to name a few... But he can definitely go get LenWhale in free agency, I don't think there will be much of a fight for him... hell even Leinart might be up for grabs soon enough. Shaman
White could be a nice complement to Forsett and for crying out loud get rid of JJ. PS what's the stink on USC? Recruiting violations or - ? More from ESPN: USC's significant self-imposed sanctions could be just the tip of the iceberg as the university tries to get in front of a hearing with the NCAA Committee on Infractions. In a story about what will happen to wins and losses in 2007-08 against USC for other Pac-10 schools, conference spokesman Dave Hirsch told The Oregonian via e-mail that "USC's sanctions won't become official until the NCAA Committee on Infractions hears the case in February." Under NCAA protocol, schools typically receive a notice of allegations at least three months prior to a hearing with the COI. A source told ESPN.com that USC did indeed receive a notice of allegations. A source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com's Andy Katz that USC's notice of infractions included both football and men's basketball, which may make the timing of Pete Carroll's departure to the Seattle Seahawks a bit more interesting based on what will come out of the report. The NCAA had folded the two investigations into one so it can review the entire athletic department's culpability in any possible infractions. That is par for the course in investigations since a failure to monitor can be applied to the entire department. Per NCAA policy, schools have 90 days to respond to the notice of allegations before a hearing is set on the committee on infractions calendar. That means USC received the notice more than three months ago since a hearing date has been set by the NCAA.The committee on infractions will meet Feb. 19-21 in Tempe, Ariz., and according to a source, USC will be the focus of that meeting with the committee. The school has banned itself from postseason play this year, trimmed scholarships (one for each of the next two years), curtailed the number of days spent recruiting, forfeited victories and returned NCAA tournament revenue for improprieties involving one-year player O.J. Mayo during the 2007-08 season. USC has never acknowledged an NCAA investigation, notice of allegations or a pending hearing. USC is a private institution and therefore doesn't have to release its report to the public under any freedom of information act. But the NCAA will make public the committee on infractions report when a decision on any punishment is rendered. That can be six to eight weeks after a hearing, meaning that it might not be until the spring when more details emerge on the violations that were uncovered in the football and basketball case. USC sports information director Dave Tuttle said that any information regarding a pending meeting with the COI would be part of an ongoing investigation and therefore the university would not comment. Dana O'Neil covers college basketball for ESPN.com. Information from ESPN.com's Andy Katz was used in this report.

Lendale's main problem is the best running back in the league is on his current team. Other than that the guy is solid.

Seahawks21
I've had a couple days to digest this. I think this move would be a lot sexier if there weren't guys like Gruden and Cowher available. I would have thought that if we had a GM or a football guy in place, they might have thrown that boatload of cash at one of those guys first. I'll remain optimistic. As a defensive coach, I think it will go a long ways to have the vocal and emotional leader of the defense automatically in his corner with Tatupu. The biggest challenge of a new and unproven coach is winning respect in the locker room, and I think Tatupu insures that he gets that, at least at the start. His energy is much needed around here, especially in regards to Hasselbeck. Anything to energize these guys a bit could go a long ways. Laywer Milloy also has played for Carroll before and had some good things to say. As a pessimist, it is a bit hard for me, but I'm trying to remain optimistic. Would I have rather seen Gruden or Cowher? Sure. Do I think this is an upgrade from Mora? Absolutely. Carroll seems very intent on proving his critics wrong, showing them he can in fact be a successful NFL head coach. I fully expect him to work tirelessly to make that happen. We'll see if the guy can coach. He obviously isn't going to have the talent edge he had at USC, so we'll see how much he can get from his players, and how well he does with X's and O's. The coaches and coordinators he is bringing with him come highly recommended. I think he'll bring some life and juice back to the organization, but we'll have to wait to see how far that alone can take them. Is he the next Jimmie Johnson, or another Spurrier/Petrino/Saban/Holtz? My guess is somewhere in between. Did anybody hear any of the press conferences? Man, does Carroll have A.D.D. or what?!? He is just all over the place. Usually I think NFL coaches need to have simple, concise messages to direct at their team. Mora never got a handle on that part. He spoke in more of a college or high school type theoretical tongue that NFL players could just never relate to. Not sure Carroll isn't guilty of the same thing, but his method just might work because there is so much energy and passion behind it. Again, I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic until I see a reason not to be. He does have an awfully lengthy NFL resume, contrary to popular belief, and has been a coordinator of a #1 ranked NFL defense in the past. We'll hold our breath and watch. Seahawks21
Now he can sign Reggie Bush and Lendale White!!!! Lendale might actually be a pretty good compliment to Forsett. It certainly isn't a long-term answer, but might be a decent band-aid until they can bring a higher level back in. With so many other pressing needs, I'm not sure they are going to be able to do much better any time soon.
