wiegie
Baltimore challenged the spot of the ball. Irrespective of whether they achieved the first-down or not, the referees clearly determined that the initial spot called on the field was incorrect. Why then did the ref say that the challenge was only successful because BAL actually made the first down? If that is the actual rule for challenges, it is stupid. I was going to post the exact same thing. I wonder if there's some reasoning that is intended to stop spot of the ball challenges since almost all of them could be won by a movement of an inch. Big John
The rule is the spot challenge is not successful if it is not a first down or touchdown/conversion, even if the ball moves forward.
