Outshined
If he gets hired as line coach or in any capacity with the offense, I would give Forte a bump. I'd rather he not get hired with them, but if he does, good for him. He knows how to make an average o-line great and has proved that ever since he started coaching with the Vikes. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...-mike-tice.html
SeductiveNun
I agree with you in terms of a line coach or a position coach (depending on the position, definately not QB), then he would be a pretty good asset. Especially working with the line again like he did under Denny Green. Just be sure to keep him below the level of OC. I just can't see him having success doing that. In 05 he took a Vikings team that had Brad Johnson, Travis Taylor, Marcus Robinson, Jermaine Wiggins to a 9-7 record. Was it Whizzinator and Bennett as the runningbacks? Within two years after that all those players were gone from the league. Players play for him and he gets the best out them.

Still, you could be right. After Linehan left I had no idea who their OC was.

Ursa Majoris
Interesting. I wonder which slot they have him slated for? They cleared out pretty much everything offensively so it could be any position.

Outshined
+1 I remember Tice wanted to get some free agents on defense to plug some holes. They signed Denard Walker from Denver just to get above the minimum salary cap requirements. McCombs pinched every nickel he could from that team. He didn't keep the headquarters maintained. Zygi had to spend a few million on repairs and updates.

Savage Beatings
I like Tice too... he obviously was in way over his head as HC of the Vikings but he's had a lot more experience since then. I think he could do alright if given another chance as an OC or HC.

An abysmal head coach for 1 season with the Vikes, but became a pretty darn good OC for the Titans. Sometimes guys get thrown into the fire way too early as coaches and need to be put into lesser roles to develop, much like some players. Brentastic
I've always liked Tice too. Sure, he made some bonehead moves when he was HC, but it was his first time in that position. As others have said, he's been a very good Oline coach and I also believe his OC abilities are better than average and certainly better than Turner or Shoop. I would welcome Tice with open arms in any capacity on offense.
Medal of Honor
As a Seahawks fan I should like Tice. I don't think he's a very good coach, but that's just me.
Savage Beatings
PFT is reporting that Tice is the new Offensive Line Coach for the Bears. Nice hire!
Seahawks21
I'll just never get over this guy being an NFL head coach at one point. When I was in high school, he spent two summers basically as a personal coach for me and another kid (who happened to play for 9 years in the NFL, but that is another story altogether). Those same two summers, I helped him and his brother coach their children's 11-12 year old baseball team. I'm just saying, I know Mr. Tice pretty well. I don't know how to say this and be nice, but he isn't exactly the most intelligent creature on the planet. You would have to explain simple things to him 4-5 times in several different ways before he could start to get a grasp. You could almost hear the wheels turning. He was totally incapable of explaining strategies of becoming a better lineman to me. Nice guy, passionate guy, but I wouldn't think he'd be sharp enough to be in charge of coaching other people. Maybe his players just like rooting for him, and it makes them play hard, but he isn't exactly a technician.

Not that he's an amazing coach, but he has displayed consistent success, at least with the O-lines he's coached in the NFL. E2A: Oh yeah, NLFN just reported the Bears have signed Tice as O-line coach. Edited January 16, 2010 by Brentastic
