MustOfBeenDrunk
Why would the Jets be favored in the betting odds over the Vikings to win the SB If they are a 7-1/2 point under dog to even win next week ? Ursa Majoris
Seems obvious that the book considers the Vikes longer odds to beat the Saints than the Jets are to beat the Colts, thus the Vikings are the outsider. Don't agree personally but when did you last see a broke bookie?
Shorttynaz
Guess it just depends on where you look cause here's another one that has the Jets as the long shot. bodog.com linked from footballlocks.com Indianapolis Colts 6/5 Minnesota Vikings 4/1 New Orleans Saints 2/1 New York Jets 13/2 LINK

I'm guessing the reasoning may be if they make it by the Colts ( who are the clear betting favorite ) then they will be the SB favorites ? No way the Jets will be favored over the Saints, or the Vikes for that matter. Maybe if the Jets beat the Colts by 30 but that's not factored into the odds at this point. cdrudge
Sportsbook currently has: Indianapolis Colts +120 Minnesota Vikings +450 New Orleans Saints +200 New York Jets +400 At first I thought those were the money lines but then I realized that it was just a different method of displaying the odds. American casinos usually represent the odds as fractions, don't they? So +450 for the Vikings is really +450/100 or 9/2. Do foreign casinos prefer the above format over fractions? Menudo
This is a valid point. Serious question H1, does your opinion of Childress change if they win it all ? Or, do you feel that this is a case of the talent on the team is over-coming a sub-standard head coach ? I"m not close enough to the situation, but, was curious of your take. Hugh 0ne
Serious question H1, does your opinion of Childress change if they win it all ? If the Vikings win the Super Bowl it will not be because of Childress' coaching genius, the only guy Childress can out coach is Wade Phillips. If Childress wasn't a moran with TJax thing, they probably would have themselves a franchise QB and maybe a Super Bowl already. I hated the way Childress handled the Favre thing, telling everyone that he was comfortable with his QB's, they weren't making a move, and a week later, they sign Favre. I've seen Childress make tons and tons of coaching mistakes. You can overcome mistakes with talent on the field, but at some point the bad play calling, poor decisions, and sheer idiocy will cost you. Childress comes from the Andy Reid school of coaching which goes something like this: Once you have a decent lead with tons of time left in the game, stop doing what works immediately so the other team can get back in the game. And he couldn't find the challenge flag???? What if that was a crucial play in the Super Bowl? I know it's an isolated incident, but it really sums it up for me. Those are the money lines, which basically are the odds, just in a different format (like you said). In other words, instead of a fraction, it just tells you what you would win on a $100 bet (or in the case of negative money lines, what you would have to bet to win $100). As far as what foreign casinos or betting sites prefer, not sure. I believe most of the sites I've seen use the -/+ system, and not the fractions. Foreign betting, at least in the UK, is based on odds written as 9-2, 4-1 and so on. Two gets you nine, one gets you four in these two examples.
