CaptainHook
The Indianapolis Colts wore their dress whites when they defeated the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI in Miami after the 2006 season. They’ll be a horse of a different color Feb. 7. As the designated home team in Super Bowl XLIV, the Colts will wear their home blue spamshirts against the New Orleans Saints in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium, according to a team spokesman. That might make some color-conscious fans a bit uneasy. The Colts are making their fourth Super Bowl appearance, and all have been in Miami. They’re 2-0 while wearing their white spamshirts (Super Bowls XLI, V), 0-1 in their blues (Super Bowl III). from indystar.com
electricrelish
The Colts are the home team because they have the better regular season record, right? Is that how it works? Edited January 26, 2010 by electricrelish
Big John
Their the home team because they have the better regular season record? Is that how it works? It alternates every year between NFC and AFC.
cdrudge
It alternates every year between NFC and AFC.Or in other words, this tells us that what color jersey will mean just about as much as what home field advantage means (aside from the coin flip). Nothing. Any superstitions or whatever you want to call it where negative Event X (losing the Superbowl) has happened because Event Y (wearing blue spamshirts) once is just silly. If the Colts lose this one and maybe a third wearing blues, then there may be reasoning behind it.

For SB XL, the Steelers were the designated home team but chose to wear white. Cohwer decided on that as they were the #6 seed and had already won 3 straight playoff games in white and did not want to break that streak.
