Media reports say St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson has been accused of beating a girlfriend who was nine months pregnant with the couple's child at his Las Vegas home last year.

Supriya Harris of Mableton, Ga., filed a complaint with Las Vegas police this week saying the two-time Pro Bowl running back repeatedly pushed her to the ground in March 2009 and bloodied her hip. Copies of the report were posted online by CBS Sports.

Las Vegas police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said authorities have not been in contact with Jackson, nor is an active investigation under way. She said the police report made in LaPlace, La., had not yet been provided to Las Vegas police.

In the report, Harris said Jackson ``flung'' her against a door until Jackson's nephew interceded. She told police Jackson later urged her to say she was injured during a fall in the shower.

Jackson called the accusations ``untrue'' and ``hurtful'' in a statement issued by one of his agents, Tom Savage of U.S. Sports Advisors.

The Rams said the team was aware of the situation. ``We are always concerned with issues involving our players,'' coach Steve Spagnuolo said.

another scenario--maybe the violence continued after that incident and she finally realized she couldn't take it anymore and reported it to police. Also she was about to give birth at that time, then when the baby came along, she focused on caring for her family and perhaps hoping things get better. Or maybe friends/family or a therapist prompted her to come forward after learning of the incident. Very sad thing that happened if it's true, you never know how people will cope in that situation because things are too crazy

Could be. Domestic violence is not exactly uncommon amongst pro athletes, but people making up stories to try to get a piece of that action isn't exactly uncommon either. Just on face, without knowing any more than I do, I'm on the side of "I ain't buying". My view can certainly change though.

Same here. I don't know anything about him that would support this - so without proof - I have to imagine that this chick is looking for some cash and/or revenge.

She already had his kid. That's plenty of $, if that's what she's really after.

Exactly. There's a loser in the mix here somewhere, just hard to know where.

The way thats written I thought he was using the child to strike her - that would be a little funny.

Never mind.
