Dcat
KEVIN ACEE SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 2010 I have not confirmed it beyond a shadow of a doubt, because there is some thought by those close to LaDainian Tomlinson that he is still considering his options. But the team that just two months ago ended one of the best Chargers’ seasons ever now appears to have absconded with one of the best Chargers’ players ever. According to three people with knowledge of the process, Tomlinson has decided to become a New York Jet. "It's 100 percent," one source said. "Done deal." Tomlinson is expected to announce the decision today or tomorrow. However, one source cautioned late Saturday night that a decision has not yet been officialy made. After nine years as a San Diego icon, Tomlinson was released in February. His 2009 season saw him post career-low numbers in carries and yards, but he left the franchise holding 28 team records and as the NFL’s eighth-leading rusher all-time and third-leading touchdown scorer ever. In New York, he will back up Shonn Greene. Tomlinson also visited the Minnesota Vikings last week, spending two days in Minneapolis before going to New York. He returned to San Diego on Saturday. There have also been reports the New Orleans Saints were interested in bringing Tomlinson for a visit. But the lure of playing in the Big Apple and under Brian Schottenheimer, the Jets offensive coordinator and son of former Chargers coach and LT confidant Marty Schottenheimer, evidently won out. Phazool
LaDainian Tomlinson and the New York Jets reached an agreement Sunday on a two-year deal, according to NFL sources. Tomlinson spent Thursday with the Minnesota Vikings, Friday with the Jets and Saturday flying home to San Diego. Before he left New York, Tomlinson told some within the Jets organization that he would return soon. He kept his word. Tomlinson is expected to share carries with running back Shonn Greene. SLAYER
You get rid of Jones and sign LT
BearBroncos
You get rid of Jones and sign LT Actually smart. Get one of the best NFL backs that ever played the game to support Greene and teach plus pay 1/4 of what TJ was asking for. I still think it will go Greene 50%, Washington 30% and LT 20% but will have to see. Greene is their starting back, I think that has already been decided. Chargerz
At least the Bolts don't play the Jets during the regular season this year, and I HOPE I don't see him play against the Chargers in the playoffs! scottyjets
It's a smart move. LT is two years younger than TJ. Jones was solid but not spectacular behind one of the best offensive lines in the league. I'm excited to see what LT will do behind that line. I'm also convinced you need three starting backs to win the AFC East and the Jets have that. Still think Leon is the most talented back we have.
