Just wondering if anyone has a good 2010 post-combine, pre-draft rookie ranking... anyone here care to post their thoughts on say the top 10 in each of the skill positions? I'd like to start reading some analyses on these guys.

Just wondering if anyone has a good 2010 post-combine, pre-draft rookie ranking... anyone here care to post their thoughts on say the top 10 in each of the skill positions? I'd like to start reading some analyses on these guys.

I don't have a player profile written up, but my latest mock sort of looks like this, but it still needs revised, and is only the first two rounds. It's not very accurate, but I still don't see a lot of corners falling between pick 20 and pick 53. McCourty is way too low, and there are quite a few mistakes, but here it is:

1 – STL: Suh, Ndamukong – DT – Nebraska

With this pick, the Rams settle with the safest available player, and will aquire a replacement QB for Bulger via FA, a later round pick, or in a trade with another team. *Optional pick QB, Sam Bradford

2 – DET: McCoy, Gerald – DT – Oklahoma

The Lions desperately need to address some defensive needs at every defensive position except for MLB and FS. They'll also need to fill in the gaps for an injured Kevin Smith. DT is the first positional need to fill in a draft that's going to take atleast another year to complete. *Optional pick OT, Russell Okung

3 – TB: Williams, Dan – DT – Tennessee

Tampa Bay would catch a big break if the Rams pick a QB with the first pick, as McCoy or Suh would be the guys they'll be targetting at a minimum. If Neither DT is available, the Bucs may have to settle with the best player available. They recently acquired safety Sean Jones from FA, which may indicate their desire to pass on safety Eric Berry at pick #3, and if the Colts and Vikings select DT, the bucs may have limited options at the start of round 2. *Optional pick S, Eric Berry

4 – WAS: Bradford, Sam – QB – Oklahoma

I just can't imagine a decision to go with a QB here, but it's definately possible. Washington really needs to address the offensive line, because Shanahan is the type of coach that needs to win games by playing behind solid offensive lines. He's also the type of coach that usually drafts offensive line in the first round, but he's never drafted so high. After studying the value in round 2, and other teams needs, I've decided Washington can wait on a tackle. *Optional pick OT, Russell Okung

5 – KC: Okung, Russell – T – Oklahoma St.

They'll struggle in deciding between Okung, Berry, and McClain, but they'll eventually make a selection. All three guys here are the best at their position, but Berry fills the void and could do for the Chiefs what Ed Reed's done for the Ravens. Still drafting a CB/S this high may be risky considering Berry's youth. *Optional pick S, Eric Berry

6 – SEA: Davis, Anthony – T – Rutgers

It appears Pete Carroll has found his quarterback of the future in Whitehurst; now the question is, just how soon does Carroll want that future to begin? Matt Hasslebeck is done, the offensive line needs speed, and there's a huge need for left tackle. *Optional pick RB, C.J. Spiller

7 – CLE: Berry, Eric – FS – Tennessee

Mike Holmgren likes to draft OT's & rush linemen in the first round, but most believe they'll pass on Clausen if he falls. Cleveland will recognize Berry's talent, and may just put him at CB, and Berry fills a huge positional need to help Cleveland's defense. *Optional pick WR, Dez Bryant

8 – OAK: Pierre-Paul, Jason – DE – South Florida

The Raiders have a history of making terrible draft decisions, and Davis likes to draft speed. Left End Greg Ellis is 34 and battling chronic knee and shoulder injuries. They have a need for WR and two offensive tackles as well. Considering the depth and need at the DE/LB spots, Davis smart pick would be Anthony Davis, but he'll miss on his draft strategy as usual. *Optional pick OT, Bruce Campbell

9 – BUF: Clausen, Jimmy – QB – Notre Dame

With rumors circulating on a switch to a 3-4, Buffalo would need a solid LB selection like McClain if he's available. WR and OT are two positional needs that seem to have depth as 2nd and 3rd round selections. *Optional pick WR, Dez Bryant

10 – JAX: Morgan, Derrick – DE – Georgia Tech

Jacksonville ranked last in the league in sacks last year (14), and they'll need to get the best pass rusher available here. They also need help at safety, and defensive tackle. Morgan is a first rounder, and this isn't a reach, but with no 2nd round picks, the Jags will have to either trade down (best scenerio is to SanDiego) or pick up the best cover corner in the draft. *Optional pick CB, Joe Haden

11 – DEN: Mcclain, Rolando – ILB – Alabama

The Broncos could use some help on all three level's of defense, and their need on the offensive side of the ball needs to become more of a power blocking scheme. WR – Dez Bryant could be the best player available, while drafting a rusher to help D.J. Williams seems to be a need as well. Brandon Marshall's price is too high, and considering he'll probably stay in Denver, Bryant is unlikely to be picked this early. *Optional pick WR, Dez Bryant

12 – MIA: Spiller, C.J. – RB – Clemson

The Phins already improved their secondary with two rookie CB's last year, and with the injury to Ronnie Brown, Parcells may need to go with Spiller since the Dolphins have a good ground game. QB – Chad Henne needs help, watch for the Dolphins to give him some in the later rounds. Spiller would be a smart pick to help decide the future of Miami's injury prone backfield.

13 – SF: Bulaga, Bryan – T – Iowa

Right tackle has been a problem spot for years now, while the guard positions have been a little shaky. With only two offensive tackles drafted at this point, I'd say Singletary gets value at this point in the draft and Iowa has a history of producing NFL caliber offensive tackles.

14 – SEA: Mays, Taylor – FS – USC

The Seahawks recently acquired DE Chris Clemons but traded away Darryl Tapp. This is a disaster without re-investing in an excellent pass-rusher investment. If they feel they can get a nice DE late in round 2, Safety will likely be addressed. Carroll's draft could look to be USC heavy. *Optional pick DE, Everson Griffen

15 – NYG: Cody, Terrence – DT – Alabama

Beefing up the defensive front is just about a big of need as beefing up the offensive front. The Giants could use some help at linebacker and defensive tackle. Second round ILB's like Sean Lee & Daryl Washington, make this positional pick a no brainer in my opinion.

16 – TEN: Thomas, Earl – SS – Texas

The Titans lost their starting defensive ends from last year (Kyle Vanden Bosch and Jevon Kearse) and DE J.Babin will help fill the void. The titans don't have a 2nd round pick, so they'll need to make this one count. The defensive back situation appears to be the major priority. *Optional pick DE, Everson Griffen

17 – SF: Haden, Joe – CB – Florida

The niners have a huge need for a return man, but they should be able to get Shipley,Tate or something similar in Round 2. The San Francisco 49ers have signed unrestricted free-agent CB Karl Paymah (Vikings) to a one-year deal, which opens the door for them to restructure with a best player available here.

18 – PIT: Iupati, Mike – OG – Idaho

Everyone sees this teams needs differently, some say the guards can't pass protect, others say it's the tackles. Pittsburgh's defense seems to have the most question marks, including pressing needs at an aging LB and DT position. *Optional pick DT, Brian Price

19 – ATL: Kindle, Sergio – OLB – Texas

The Falcons secondary is in a sorry state, and the Falcons addressed that issue with a trade for Houston CB Dunta Robinson. If there is a top-notch pass rusher available, look for Atlanta to address that early. DT Peria Jerry was ineffective in 2 starts before tearing ACL, and may also be an option. *Optional pick DT, Jared Odrick

20 – HOU: Wilson, Kyle – CB – Boise St.

If Joe Haden and Earl Thomas are both off the board, the Texans will be in a really tough spot. If they ever hope to defeat Manning and Brady in the playoffs, they'll have to get better at pass protection. The loss of D.Robinson to the Falcons strengthens the need to bring in a top-notch CB. *Optional pick CB, Perrish Cox

21 – CIN: Bryant, Dez – WR – Oklahoma St.

The Bengals are pretty bad at scoring TD's, they've got some depth at the RB position, the QB position seems good enough, their defense was outstanding this year, picking up a WR like Bryant should be a lock if he's still on the board. *Optional pick S, Nate Allen

22 – NE: Best, Jahvid – RB – California

With a player comparison to Reggie Bush, Best might not make it out of the first round. I think with Welker's injury, the Patriots will need to look at a different offensive play calling scheme, and Best's 4.35 speed and Brady's arm should bounce the Pats back to elite form in the AFC East. *Optional pick DT, Jared Odrick

23 – GB: Campbell, Bruce – OT – Maryland

Aaron Rodgers received much better pass protection since losing to the Buccaneers, but things ultimately fell apart in Arizona. Relying on Chad Clifton to protect Rodgers' blind side for another year is not a good idea. Green Bay's No. 1 priority this offseason is finding a top-notch offensive tackle for Aaron Rodgers.

24 – PHI: Allen, Nate – FS – South Florida

Andy Reid loves drafting linemen on both sides of the ball, and the Eagles could be looking for an upgrade over mediocre left end Victor Abiamiri this offseason. They acquired Darryl Tapp from the Seahawks, opening the door for the best player available. *Optional pick DE, Carlos Dunlap

25 – BAL: Gresham, Jermaine – TE – Oklahoma

Ravens general manager Ozzy Newsome may take the best TE available to start things off. I think the best player available for them is either Gresham or Golden Tate, but the Ravens also have a need for DE. *Optional pick CB, Perrish Cox

26 – ARI: Williams, Trent – T – Oklahoma

I look for the Cardinals to start looking toward running the ball, and running it hard in the near future. If none of the top offensive tackles are available at this point, I think this pick will be OLB/DE. The Cardinals had difficulty stopping anyone in the playoffs. One of their defensive needs could be at OLB, with Okeafor heading to FA. *Optional pick LB/DE, Brandon Graham

27 – DAL: Brown, Charles – T – USC

Offensive line seems to be the best fit if the top 4 safeties are already gone. LT Flozell Adams will be 35 next fall, so Dallas needs a succession plan in place there, and RT Marc Columbo was beaten too often last year. All 5 starters on their offensive line are on the wrong side of 30, making OL a solid need to address. *Optional pick OG, Mike Iupati

28 – SD: Odrick, Jared – DT – Penn State

The Chargers will draft a replacement RB here for Tomlinson if they feel Mathews is the guy, but my guess is they'll wait till pick 40. They have a history of selecting steals like Micheal Turner (5th round pick) in the later rounds of the draft though. They recently traded C.Whitehurst to the Seahawks to move up in round 2, and will most likely target the RB position there. *Optional pick RB, Ryan Mathews

29 – NYJ: Dunlap, Carlos – DE – Florida

It would be a mistake for the Jets to pass on an edge rusher here. They need to bring in a top LB/DE prospect to help remove Vernon Golston, and relieve some injury concerns at LB. Dunlap has some questionable injury and character concerns and is a risk. *Optional pick DE, Everson Griffen

30 – MIN: Cox, Perrish – CB – Oklahoma St.

CB will be a top priority here, if the Vikings feel they can draft a solid DT late in round 2. With Pat Williams soon to retire, the Vikings biggest need is to grab a defensive tackle. *Optional pick DT, Brian Price

31 – IND: Price, Brian – DT – UCLA

The Colts indicated that bringing back their defensive leader Gary Brackett was a priority this offseason, and it appears they are stepping up to make that happen. The Colts are horrible against the run without Bob Sanders healthy, so a defensive tackle should help. The committment to upgrade DT last year failed, necessitating another shot at it.

32 – NO: Graham, Brandon – OLB – Michigan

The Saints will need to address releasing pass-rusher Charles Grant. *Optional pick DE, Everson Griffen

Round 2

33 – STL: Spikes, Brandon – ILB – Florida

The Rams could easily go with a QB prospect here if they pass on Bradford first overall. My guess is they'll take McCoy, but defensive minded Spagnuolo could find a replacement for MLB B.Witherspoon, considering how well 2nd round draft pick J.Laurinitis panned out. *Optional pick QB, Colt McCoy

34 - DET: Sapp, Ricky – DE – Clemson

I think the Lions should get the best rush LB available here, as they continue to rebuild their entire defense. The signing of Seahawks receiver Nate Burleson cushions WR concerns. *Optional pick RB, Ryan Mathews

35 – TB: Capers, Selvish – OT – West Virginia

If the Bucs are forced to take the best edge rusher available in round 1, this is where they'll look to the best DT or safety available. A big need is at OT, and with the top 4 safeties off the board, this is likely to be the best tackle left on the board, or a receiver to replace now Cincinnatti receiver Antonio Bryant. *Optional pick WR, Golden Tate

36 - KC: Jones, Chad – S – LSU

Kansas City really could use a pass rusher, or some help in the secondary. Having secured the best OT in the draft, they can now focus their efforts on defense. Given KC's love for LSU defenders, picking up safety Chad Jones is likely. *Optional pick OLB/DE, Sean Weatherspoon

37 - WAS: Fox, Jason – OT – Miami

Shanahan really can't afford to draft a QB in Round 1 because the Redskins could really use two solid offensive tackles, and a younger RB. With the signing of Larry Johnson, the RBBC approach for 2010 seems settled for now. *Optional pick OG, Mike Iupati

38 - CLE: McCoy, Colt – QB – Texas

There is no guarantee QB Colt McCoy doesn't fall before this pick, which is a big reason I think they'll take a look at quarterback in round 1. Having secured Eric Berry, the best available for them appears to be Colt McCoy. Cleveland passed on QB – M.Sanchez with a trade to the Jets, and I don't see them passing up on a nice QB prospect again. Having traded both Quinn and Anderson, while acquiring Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, Cleveland probably isn't sure they'll be able to get one of this…

39 - OAK: Pouncey, Maurkice – C – Florida

I really think Tebow fits best in a run oriented offense, and the Raiders would be genius to draft QB Tim Tebow. Russell and Gradkowski aren't the answer even with a speedster like DHB. They won't realize it and they'll draft something that doesn't really fit. Pouncey is considered one of the best offensive linemen in the draft, and will help in pass protection. *Optional pick QB, Tim Tebow

40 - SD: Mathews, Ryan – RB – Fresno St.

The Chargers moved up in the draft in a trade with Seattle, probably just to make sure they get the runningback they want if they decide to grab someone who falls a little too far in Round 1. If NT Dan Williams falls to the Chargers, they'll wait and grab a RB here. They may also be hoping to snag a safety like Nate Allen this late in the draft. *Optional pick DT, Arthur Jones

41 - BUF: Ducasse, Vlad – OG – Massachusetts

Buffalo was shopping for a QB, and Tim Tebow probably isn't as good a fit as Tony Pike would be. If they land Clausen, they'll also consider a replacement for Terrell Owens, but left tackle is a top priority for Buffalo. While this is a reach for the 3 year starter at LT, he's simply the best available for the position if TB grabs an OT in the early part of round 2. *Optional pick WR, Arellious Benn

42 - TB: Griffen, Everson – DE – USC

The Bucs acquired this pick by trading the late Gaines Adams to the Bears. If they cover the linemen early, this is probably an edge rusher. With the top 5 safeties off the board, this is likely to be a DE. Receiver is just going to have to wait.

43 - MIA: Hughes, Jerry – DE – TCU

Benn is used to playing with Quarterback troubles, and it's his size and speed that has me favoring him over Notre Dame's Golden Tate. They'll take a long look at both receivers, and may just decide to wait one more round on a wideout. Replacing J.Porter is a must. *Optional pick WR, Arellious Benn

44 - NE: Jones, Arthur – DT – Syracuse

Richard Seymour left a gaping hole on one side of the line, and Jones brings a similar type of game to fill that void. The Patriots usually land steals in the draft and based on and having (3) 2nd Round picks, I believe they'll pass on the offensive side of the ball here in favor of not falling short on the defensive line. The Patriots lack of a pass-rush was a big reason their season ended in the first round of the playoffs in 2009. *Optional pick OLB/DE, Sean Weatherspoon

45 - DEN: Wootton, Corey – DE – Northwestern

The Broncos got by with journeymen on the defensive line in their first year playing in the 3-4, but they still need to bring in some franchise talent. Denver needs to solve it's run blocking issues.

46 - NYG: Butler, Donald – ILB – Washington

The Giants were hurt pretty bad defensively, and spread pretty thin when Antonio Pierce went down last year. They have a need to fill the MLB role now that Pierce has been released. Bowman,Norwood, or Sean Lee may also be options. *Optional pick LB, Sean Lee

47 - CAR: Tebow, Tim – QB – Florida

The Panthers could use a nice receiver to replace an aging Muhammed, and they were hoping backup runningback Mike Goodson could fill a need in the return game. I think either guard, center, wideout, or quarterback are their best options. Tebow should fit really well into the Panthers run oriented offense, however, the Panthers should have concerns at edje rusher as well with the loss of Peppers to Chicago. *Optional pick WR, Arellious Benn

48 - NE: Weatherspoon, Sean – OLB – Missouri

Defensively, the Patriots need an OLB to generate pressure, and maybe a TE to replace Ben Watson. They may choose to pick up Arrelious Benn if he falls this far, or may go with a guard. *Optional pick TE, Jermaine Gresham

49 - SF: Tate, Golden – WR – Notre Dame

With a player comparison to Vikings receiver Percy Harvin, Golden Tate will immediately impact the return game. *Optional pick OLB/DE, Navorro Bowman

50 - KC: Bowman, Navorro – OLB – Penn State

Chiefs could use some help stopping the run as well as the pass. Mike Vrabel will be 35 when the season begins, so picking up an edge rusher is a priority. While T.Gibson is an ideal player to fit into one of the NFL's many 3-4 schemes, and is comparible to Chargers Larry English, Bowman looks to be the best LB available. Optional pick LB/DE, Thaddeus Gibson

51 - HOU: Dwyer, Jonathan – RB – Georgia Tech

Houston needs to address the light footed runningback position, and get themselves an every down workhorse. Scoring TD's can't always be forced through Andre Johnson.

52 - PIT: Lee, Sean – OLB – Penn State

I feel ILB Daryl Washington is the best fit for the Steelers to help in coverage with steelers safety T.Polomalu, however the best LB available is likely to be Penn States Sean Lee.

53 - NE: Robinson, Patrick – CB – Florida State

The Patriots may need to draft a TE to replace Ben Watson, if they aren't comfortable with former Jets TE Chris Baker. The glaring need is CB, after allowing CB Asante Samuel to walk.

54 - CIN: Hernandez, Aaron – TE – Florida

Strong safety Roy Williams and free safety Chris Crocker turn 30 this year and are already showing signs of slowing down. Safety needs to be addressed here, but TE and OL could be picks here as well. The downside of an improved running attack is a more predictable offense. *Optional pick OG, Jon Asamoah

55 - PHI: Black, Ciron – OL – LSU

The Eagles could at the very least be looking to draft some depth at MLB, but after seeing DeMarcus Ware have his way with LT Jason Peters last year, tackle looks like a desperate need. Alabama's Johnson may not survive at tackle, but he may be the best player available at this point in the draft. The Eagles are looking to trade up in round 2 via their QB options, and the lack of depth at OT here could be the reason why. *Optional pick OL, Mike Johnson

56 - GB: Burnett, Morgan – FS – Georgia Tech

Al Harris, who just turned 35, is coming off ACL surgery. DB will be an area of need for the Packers this offseason. Nick Collins will be an UFA if there's a collective bargaining extension and a RFA if there isn't. For the Packers 3-4 transition to be complete, they need a dynamic strong safety who has the size to play the run, and the speed to cover half the field.

57 - BAL: Selvie, George – DE – South Florida

Baltimore needs to get some depth in the secondary. Baltimore's habit of committing pass interference penalties reared its ugly head once again in a playoff loss to the Colts. The Defense is aging, and Selvie's value is decent here.

58 - ARI: Hardy, Greg – DE – Mississippi

With the loss of Kurt Warner and Anquan Boldin, the Cardinals need to replace one major issue at a time. With the steal of picking up OT Trent Williams in round 1, OLB/DE is the next priority. There looks like there will be lots of options.

59 - DAL: Benn, Arrelious – WR – Illinois

Benn isn't as hyped as WR Damian Williams, but he's ranked in the top 3. He's worth taking a flyer on at a position the Cowboy's could really improve on. WR Mardy Gilyard is also a possibility here with he return skills.

60 - SEA: Williams, Damian – WR – USC

The Seahawks acquired QB C.Whitehurst from the Chargers and moved down in round 2. Having picked up a LT and safety in round 1, they can now focus on the best DL available. Notice again the favorablity to USC. *Optional pick OL, Mike Johnson

61 - NYJ: Thompson, Syd'Quan – CB – California

The Lito Sheppard experiment didn't quite work. The Jets need to provide stability to the DB position opposite Derrelle Revis, which would make their pass rush even more effective.

62 - MIN: Houston, Lamarr – DT – Texas

If the Vikings go CB early, this is sure to be the best DT available. They could also consider QB Tony Pike here. If the Vikings think they can draft DT Lamaar Houston, Oghobaase, or Alualu with this pick, CB is top priority for round 1. *Optional pick QB, Tony Pike

63 - IND: McCourty, Devin – CB – Rutgers

There aren't many holes to fill here, although defensively they could use some massive adjustments. They've addressed the MLB issue, which still needs improvement, so they could gamble on another DT, or some added depth in the secondary.

64 - NO: Alualu, Tyson – DT – California

The defense adjusted well to Gregg Williams' attacking style, but they were susceptible to the run. NOS allowed 4.5 ypc, the second worst in the NFC. They could use a space-eater to take up space next to Ellis, or an upgrade at either of the OLB spots. *Optional pick ILB, Eric Norwood

I was looking at your draft to get a feel for positional players, and I feel too many tackles went in the first 10 picks, and it also clued me in on a value drop for Price and Cody. The Bucs pick of OT is wrong in the 2nd round, but I really like the Everson Griffen pick. And my corners are ranked out of whack.

Thanks Vintage, very good stuff!

Although to be honest I was looking for more of a ranking per skill position, rather than a mock draft. Many NFL Teams will draft for need (or they might be led by crazy insane owners named Al) which means that a particular player might be drafted higher than someone else who might actually have better skills. That's why I like rankings before the draft (to see what people think of the players' raw skills before they are placed into their professional situations).

DMD... anything possibly coming from you guys at all?

I won't go into the player profiles, it would be easier for you to just look up because there are many different opinions on each individual player. I have them ranked as follows as top 10's, none of it matters to me (after the top 5) unless draft position or team upgrade falls into the equation.

QB's - Bradford,Clausen,McCoy,Pike,Tebow,Crompton,LeFevour,J.Brown,Snead,Ed

wards

RB's - Spiller,Mathews,Best,McKnight,Dwyer,Gerhart,McCluster,Tate,Hardesty,

Dixon

WR's - Bryant,Tate,Benn,D.Thomas,D.Williams,Gilyard,LaFell,Price,Decker,For

d

TE's - Gresham,Hernandez,Gronkowski,McCoy,Dickson,J.Graham,Peek,Pitta,Moeak

i,G.Graham

OL's - Okung,Davis,Bulaga,Williams,Campbell,Iupati,C.Brown,Ducasse,Veldheer

I don't really get what PRE-draft rankings do for anyone....a players destination has as much if not more to do with their future FF value then their current projected talent level...so any rankings now would more than likely be largely changed immediately following the draft.

Just wondering if anyone has a good 2010 post-combine, pre-draft rookie ranking... anyone here care to post their thoughts on say the top 10 in each of the skill positions? I'd like to start reading some analyses on these guys.

Just came across this ranking, it looks really good for the most part, I still think the corners after the top 3 are scewed: link

I like to know what people think of the players' raw talent, so a ranking before the draft (before the team situations are a part of the context) helps to show me that. Plus I'm a junkie and want as much football information as can get during the slow off-season.
