Chief
Looking for input from Carolina fans seeing as we're reportedly signing this guy. Don't know a thing about him, looking at his stats doesn't say alot either. Wondering why we're picking him up other than our current ones suck anyways. WaterMan
I live in the Panthers viewing area and I didn't really ever hear his name being called. Except for that time he knocked the kick returner out cold before he had the ball. He's now 30 so he's passed making a name for himself or improving much at CB. I guess you think there should be no unecessary roughness either... I'm at a loss trying to figure out how someone could say something this stupid. There is a lot of cheap chit that happens in football. I'd rather take a hit out in the open where the opposing player gives up a 15 yarder than be under some pile where a lineman is trying to bite hands or hit you in the kidneys. So while I don't approve of it, the stuff happens , and occasionally it's funny to watch. Anyway, Detroit could use all the special teams help they can get. Basically the roster was so thin with talent that the special teams guys were practice squad guys on most other teams.

His punishment was less than adequate. However, this is an old debate, discussed incessantly and probably shouldn't be drummed back up! I played football for 6 years as a Linebacker and Safety, to me a hit was a hit. A big hit always pumped up your team, legal or not. I guess my initial wording was wrong by saying i "approved" of it. I've been involved in heated rivalries especially in high school. Much worse, much more dirty plays. Again, that was high school this is the NFL so there is a different degree of standard. When i saw the hit live on TV, i really did think it was awesome, mostly because i do like Carolina and don't really care about TB. I would have loved for that hit to have been on a Patriots player....but then again enough damage was done to Wes. I don't think i sound crazy honestly to have thought the play was cool. If you sit there and try to deny that if that was on your teams rival's kick returner/punt returner that you wouldn't be stoked, you're ignorant. Ignorant because you wouldn't be stoked if a player on your team did something cheap like that? Dude, there's a time and place. There's a time when a player should have his head on a swivel and deserves what he gets and there's a time when a player should be allowed to focus entirely on the incoming ball free from concerns that someone is going to take his head off because the league has specifically set up rules to allow him this luxury. By god you're a freaking idiot.

If you sit there and try to deny that if that was on your teams rival's kick returner/punt returner that you wouldn't be stoked, you're ignorant. I was brought up with class and standards. When I played football in HS, I helped a guy up from an opposing team who was injured during a play. Now I haven't played HS Sports in over a decade, but I have competed in a few Jiu Jitsu tournaments, and helped in the training of some friends that are in MMA regionally. One time I passed guard to go to a full mount and in the process dislocated my opponents rib with my knee. I didn't get "stoked" when he tapped. I knew he was hurt and I let his guys know. I asked him if he was ok and wished him the best. I've had a friend in an MMA match go to the center of the cage, act as if he was going to touch gloves and then try and catch his opponent off guard and punch when the other guy went to touch gloves. I told him it was chicken poopy. A cheap shot is a cheap shot. It's not sport. And a real competator doesn't need to take a cheap shot to use to their advantage. Get some class man. Your attitude is terrible.

detlef
Let's all show how smart we are by name calling. This will be a lot of fun. Listen, if some dude wants to say he applauds cheap shots, that's one thing. He's entitled to his opinion. Of course, my opinion is, that makes him a d-bag. However, if once challenged he goes on to say that anyone who doesn't get fired up when a player on his team lowers himself to that level is lying to himself. Well, actually, he incorrectly used ignorant but I'm going give him the benefit of the doubt and guess that's what he meant. Well, that's another thing entirely. In other words; if the shoe fits... Fair enough. Respect both of your opinions. All i was trying to say was, it didn't phase me because i don't really care what happens to TB season. Call me a bad sport, that's all fine and well. Yea, if that happened to a Jets player i would be livid, however it didn't, so I'm not. It's the same thing as whenever a persons favorite team plays the patriots, you don't mind Brady taking a few cheap shots now do ya?
