Everybody was just hoping that whoever was back there receiving the ball would catch the dang thing...gaining yardage after the catch wasnt even on the radar. Ginn gives them a legit special teamer. DMD Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Hard to believe that the Fins took Ginn over Dwayne Bowe (or nearly any of the other WRs drafted in 2007) but they were way too impressed with the return abilities of Devin Hester and thought they were getting that level of special teams help. Ends up even the Bears never got nearly as much from Hester after his rookie year. Never draft a player with special teams the primary reason. Maybe kickers.. I can still remember the response of the fans when Cameron came out and said who they just picked.The people where yelling and booing his selection . Seahawks21 Posted April 17, 2010 Share Posted April 17, 2010 Hey may end up being technically their #4, but he'll certainly get tested early. The 49ers have been desperate for speed on that offense for years. When your most explosive player is your TE, you just have to grind out too many driives. They're going to give him opportunities to be their big play guy. As a Seahawks fan, I don't like this one bit. For years the Seahawks have been able to cheat everybody way up against the 49ers and try to hold them in a box, but this gives them a chance to cause a little more chaos than usual. What gives you the idea that Westbrook was drafted as a special teams player? He may not have started right away and maybe he played a little special teams, but he was drafted pretty high and was starting midway through his second season. I knew right then that the decision by the Dolphins brass to hand over the reigns to the organization to Cam Cameron was a hugh mistake. He took Ginn Jr. because he was a friend of the family. I just sat there for about 10 min staring at the tv in disbelief. Wasn't that due a lot to the fact that they wanted Quinn? Yes. The fans were dying to get a player who could be the new face of the Miami Dolphins. Quinn looked the part as he waited to be selected sitting next to his hot blonde girlfriend. I think we were all looking at the new future of the Dolphins and we were just waiting for the #9 pick came around. So you could say both Miami and Cleveland got screwed by this pick because if Quinn was off the board the Browns would have had no reason to trade back up in the 1st round to get him. They dealt their 2nd round pick that year and a 1st round pick the next draft for Quinn. Had they stayed in the 2nd round (I think they only moved up about 10-15 spots) they would have got a nice impact player (in theory if they drafted a good player) and would have still had a 1st round pick the following year. This was the year when the Browns went 10-6 with Derrick Anderson at QB so whoever they got in the 2nd may have been enough to push them to 11-5 and get that playoff spot not to mention maybe that 1st rounder the next year could have been an impact player. Instead it was a complete implosion in 2008 for the Browns. Interesting how things work out sometimes. Also A-Peterson was in that draft.
