SAM SHIELDS, CB

Height: 5-11 | Weight: 184 | College: Miami (Fla.)

CB Sam Shields worked his way into draft consideration with an incredible workout. He ran the 40 in 4.30 and 4.33, had a 39-inch vertical jump, an 11-1 broad jump, a 4.19 short shuttle, a 6.79 three-cone drill and did 15 bench press reps. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

A converted WR to CB he could be a return man and gunner.

Without clicking the line I know he's already got more talent and upside then Bush. I hope they bring in a TON of DB's to work through.

My thinking too. Ted missed out on the top FAs it seems but one or two could make team.

The whole Packer list(From Acme Packing)

Kickoff and punt return candidates

- Fresno State WR Chastin West.

- Miami CB Sam Shields.

- UTEP WR Jeff Moturi.

- Bishop University WR Shawn Gore (tryout).

- Morgan State WR E.J. Morgan-Green (tryout).

Practice squad QB candidate

- South Dakota QB Noah Shepard.

College DE converting to OLB in a 3-4 NFL defense

- Central Michigan DE/OLB Frank Zombo. (Great name!)

- Wake Forest DE John Russell.

- Stephen F. Austin OLB Tim Knicky.

Other future practice squad candidates

- Stillman College RB Quinn Porter.

- Temple MLB Alex Joseph.

- UConn S Robert Vaughn.

- Southern Miss RB Tory Harrison.

- UTEP OT Mike Aguayo (tryout).

OL Nick McDonald, Grand Valley State (CONFIRMED)

6-4, 306, 5.21, 27 BP, 27 VJ....A first-team Division II all-American at left tackle last season who has been drawing interest after a solid pro day workout. Played right guard his junior year. Mother died when he was 14, and father abandoned him and three siblings, who were forced to split up. Nearly drank himself off the team as a freshman but grew up and has said he'll join the Marines if an NFL career doesn't work out.

OT Chris Campbell, Eastern Illinois (CONFIRMED)

6-5, 328, 5.28....From EIU: Campbell a 6-5, 328 lb., offensive tackle has generated the most buzz during the recent weeks. Selected as a late edition to play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game, Campbell has opened the eyes of several NFL teams. In the latest CBS Scout Draft Tracker, Campbell is listed as the No. 18 rated prospect at offensive tackle and is projected to be taken in the sixth round. A report in Sporting News has him as a sleeper in the draft and rated as high as the No. 10 offensive tackle available. Campbell was a second team All-OVC selection as a senior starting for the first time in his EIU career. He played at Chicago’s Marshall High School. The Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks are the two teams who are reported to be interested in Campbell.

Should Campbell be selected in the NFL Draft he would become the first Panther to hear his name called since Chris Watson was selected in the 3rd round of the 1999 draft by the Denver Broncos. To this day Watson is also the highest NFL selection in the draft from EIU.

The only other DB so far.

Robert Vaughn, S, UConn

Position: FS

School & Year/Status: Connecticut - Senior

Jersey Number: #33

Height & Weight: 6'0 - 200 lbs.

2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Robert Vaughn, FS, Connecticut

NFL scouts will get caught up with Vaughn's height, or lack there of. Vaughn is listed at 6-0, but that may be a little generous and the final verdict will come at the NFL Combine. Vaughn needs a good showing during Senior Week to be anything but a mid-to-late round selection, but he is an experienced player with a knack for making the big play.

2/21 Update: Vaughn finished off his collegiate career with a nice performance against South Carolina in the Papajohns.com Bowl, including an interception. However, the news after the season is not as promising. Vaughn was not invited to the NFL Combine and will have to have some solid individual workouts to stay in the sixth to seventh round range.

What round do you think Blount gets picked in if he doesn't sucker-punch someone?

Richie Brockel, TE, Boise State

Jason Lamb, DE, Baylor

Justin Jeffries, OT, Kentucky

You can add Fresno State WR Seyi Ajirotutu to that list. He's 6'4" and A.J. LOVES tall WR's. Jeremy Williams was "thought to be a possible midround pick" by the UT today and may end up making the roster over the underperforming Buster "the bust" Davis.

This year I especially like the addition of the two offensive linemen. We need depth at that position and TCU's Nic Redmond was also reported in the SD paper today to be a "priority".

I think it was more when he went into the stands but I heard 2nd to 3rd yesterday. He retaliated but did it when the other wasn't looking.

The biggest issue is his work ethic. Even before the sucker punch he came into the season overweight and out of shape, and didn't really work on getting back into shape when he was suspended. Probably visions of drafting a Lendale White.

rumor is, blount either never signed a contract with SF or there was an issue and he's now with TEN which makes more sense for them and him. He can be the occasional Thunder to CJ's lightning. And since I was never that convinced of Ringer, Blount becomes the primary backup, maybe.

So that's 3 teams he has been rumored to sign with. Maybe he's waiting for an offer from the Bengals.

Ringer may be a better thunder afterall.

Mayock ( I think ) said the other day that he runs too upright and noone was really impressed with him to begin with.

hey my cousin Joe Pawelek (ILB-Baylor) was snagged by Seattle...hopefully he can impress in training camp and make the cut. Btw, the "W" in Pawelek is pronounced as a "V"

Your cousin? Cool! I was shocked he didn't get drafted. This guy is a [dramatic Jaws-like pause] FOOTBALL PLAYER and I wouldn't be shocked to see him make the Seahawks and matter at some point. I saw him play at Baylor and I think I might have served him at the restaurant I work at.

Embattled RB LeGarrette Blount has changed his mind about signing with the 49ers, and will sign a free-agent deal with the Titans on Monday, according to his agent, Zeke Sandhu.

Sandhu originally said that Blount was going to sign with the 49ers at the conclusion of Sunday’s draft. But Blount has apparently changed his mind.

Blount may feel as though he has a better opportunity with the Titans, who shipped RB LenDale White to the Seahawks over the weekend. But he'll have to compete with fellow undrafted free agent, former USC running back Stafon Johnson, who signed with the Titans after the draft.

Blount was considered one of the top prospects heading into the 2009 season as a senior at Oregon. But he was suspended for punching Boise State’s Byron Hout following the Ducks’ season-opening loss at Boise State. Blount did return on November 14, but only saw playing time in the team’s final two games. He did score a touchdown in the Rose Bowl for the Ducks.

Porter to IR

Shields makes team as a DB, not KR.

Zombo makes it too, and better than expected.

And wiegie will like a GVSU grad made the squad as in McDonald.
